In a fiber optic connector, a ferrule body is received in a connector housing. A displaceable guide pin is movable in relation to the ferrule body. A spring yieldably biases the displaceable guide pin forward along a longitudinal axis of the fiber optic connector. The displaceable guide pin is displaced backward along the longitudinal axis in relation to the ferrule body and resiliently compresses the spring as the fiber optic connector is connected to another fiber optic component. In a multifiber ferrule assembly, a ferrule base is connected to a ferrule body. A displaceable guide pin is movably connected to the ferrule body for movement in relation to the ferrule body along a longitudinal axis between an extended position and a retracted position. A spring between the displaceable guide pin and the ferrule base yieldably biases the displaceable guide pin to the extended position.

A new fiber optic connector provides a very small form factor with reduced size. The fiber optic connector may comprise a single-body housing having a front end and rear end in a longitudinal direction, two ferrules accommodated in the housing and protruding from the front end of the housing, a back housing positioned adjacent to the rear end of the housing, two springs positioned between the two ferrules and the back housing to urge the two ferrules to move forward, and a boot assembly connected to the rear end of the housing. The housing comprises a latch arm extending obliquely upwards, and the latch arm is in a depressed state when the fiber optic connector is mating with an adapter.

A connection system may include fiber optic connectors and an optical receptacle into which the connectors are plugged. The fiber optic connectors are constructed so that the width of the connectors is small. Eight fiber optic connectors can be received in an opening of a QSFP style transceiver.

A fiber optic adapter for mating with a fiber optic connector includes an adapter housing. The adapter housing includes a wall and an opening that accepts the fiber optic connector. An optical alignment axis extends through the adapter housing and passes through the opening of the adapter housing. A guide is disposed on the wall of the outer housing. The guide comprises a cam surface located inward of the opening, facing toward the opening, and extending along an axis that is transverse to the optical alignment axis. The cam surface is arranged for engaging the fiber optic connector inserted into the opening along an insertion axis that is divergent from the optical alignment axis to drive the fiber optic connector substantially into alignment with the optical alignment axis as the fiber optic connector traverses the cam surface upon being pushed farther into the adapter housing.

Connector assemblies are described herein. For example, a connector assembly including: a housing configured to accept a first ferrule and a second ferrule. The connector assembly may also have a push/pull clip that is configured to depress a protrusion that rotates down a connector device to remove the connector assembly from an adapter. The push/pull clip is integrated with a cable boot assembly that allows a user to apply a distal force to remove or insert the connector assembly into the adapter housing. The push/pull clip is configured for use to release a MPO and LC connector type from an adapter.

A multi-polarity fiber optic connector is configured to provide a plurality of connector polarity options. Two LC connectors are grouped together using a duplex cable boot assembly which is secured over a backpost extending from a plug frame of each LC connector. Each LC connector has a release latch attached to the outer surface of the plug frame. A dual release latch has a hook that secures the dual release latch to the duplex cable boot. The dual latch release is configured to depress each LC connector latch release together. To change the duplex LC connector from a first polarity to a second polarity, a user pulls on one of the two cable boots that makes up the duplex cable boot assembly and then rotates each LC connector housing, or the user pulls on the dual latch release and then rotates each LC connector housing. User rotates each LC connector housing 180 degrees about a longitudinal axis of the LC connector to change the connector polarity from a first polarity to a second polarity where the first polarity is opposite the second polarity.

A fiber optic connector with a rotatable connection member for converting the connector from a first polarity to a second polarity, and a manipulator assembly comprising a tab member and a locking member movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, the manipulator assembly being coupled to the connection member such that the manipulator assembly and the connection member rotate conjointly about the axis of rotation, and when in locked position connector polarity cannot be changed.

A fiber optic connector deploys a latch lever release with an elastic rib. When the latch lever release is depressed down or toward the optical axis of the connector, a hook seated within a recess of the connector outer housing, the hook is lifted out of the recess thereby allowing the connector to be removed from the adapter port. A pivot point is formed between the main body of the latch lever release and the connector outer housing. Depressing the latch lever release distal of the pivot point at the trigger portion displaces the hook from the connector thereby allowing the user to remove the connector from a receptacle port, such as an adapter port.

A multiple fiber push-on (MPO) optical connector is provided having a ferrule configured to house multiple optical fibers and including a stepped portion extending from at least one pair of opposing exterior surfaces of the ferrule. A one-piece housing-backpost is provided having a distal end in a connection direction and a proximal end in a cable direction. The one-piece housing-backpost is configured to receive a ferrule spring and the ferrule from the distal end. The housing-backpost includes at least one resiliently-deformable ferrule-retaining protrusion extending from a sidewall to engage the corresponding stepped portion of the ferrule. The resiliently-deformable ferrule-retaining protrusion is configured to deform towards the housing-backpost interior sidewall as the ferrule is inserted from the distal end and to extend outward against the stepped portion of the ferrule when the ferrule is seated in the housing-backpost to maintain the ferrule in the housing-backpost.

Connector assemblies are described herein. For example, a connector assembly including: a housing configured to accept a first ferrule and a second ferrule. The connector assembly may also have a latch component that is removably connected to the housing. The connector may furthermore include a push-pull tab removably connected to the housing and configured to move horizontally along the outer surface of housing when a biasing force is applied in at least one of a forward direction and a rearward direction. Accordingly, the push-pull tab can compress the latch component when moving horizontally along the housing, and an inverted ramp at a proximal end of the push/pull, the ramp aides in depressing the latch downward to release the connector from a receptacle.

An optical connector holding two or more LC-type optical ferrules is provided. The optical connector includes an outer housing, ferrules, a cable boot and one or more polarity keys. The keys are configured to change connector polarity from a first to a second polarity. The push/pull clip is configured for use to release a LC connector type from a receptacle port with or without an anchor device within the port.
