A polymerizable quaternary ammonium compound (QAC) including an acrylate group and a cationic group is provided. Specifically, the acrylate group is capable of polymerization so as to integrate the QAC into a macromolecular chain of a polymer through an addition polymerization for introducing antimicrobial and antiviral activities. For instance, the polymerizable QAC can be polymerized with a vinyl group monomer, an acrylate monomer, a silane monomer, an adhesion monomer and an emulsification monomer to form a synthesized polymer emulsion. The polymer emulsion can be further incorporated into a coating material to provide a transparent, water resistant, antimicrobial and antiviral waterborne coating on a substrate's surface.

The present invention provides an adhesive material with improved bonding performance to a wet substrate, the adhesive material includes a first component selected from a polysiloxane-based adhesive, or a polyurethane-based adhesive; and a second component of a catechol-containing polymeric additive which includes a reaction product of polyvinylpyrrolidone with 3',4&#x2032;-dihydroxy-2-chloroacetophenone, and the weight ratio of polyvinylpyrrolidone to 3&#x2032;,4&#x2032;-dihydroxy-2-chloroacetophenone ranging from 10:1 to 1:1. The adhesive material being a mixture of at least the first component and the second component, where the second component is approximately 1 wt. % to 10 wt. % of the first component.

The invention relates to a modular integrated construction joint which includes a first building module, a second building module or a structural wall and a joint between the first building module and the second building module or structural wall. The joint includes a flexible seamless stitching system, which provides a long-term firestop, smokestop and waterproof for the joint cavity in-between modules in modular integrated construction (MiC).

The present disclosure provides an encapsulated particle for anti-UV radiation. The encapsulated particle includes a core comprising an anti-UV agent, and a shell at least partially enclosing the core and comprising a polymer. Due to the presence of the shell, the anti-UV agent can be released into surroundings at a controlled manner. The encapsulated particle can be incorporated into coatings or articles to extend their service life.

Atomized anti-scratching nano-coating for glass surface and method of manufacturing thereof

The present invention provides a one-component silicone sealant composition curable when exposed to moisture at room temperature. The resulting silicone sealant has excellent stain-resistance, good overall mechanical performances and good adhesion on both dry and wet substrates. The composition contains modified hydroxyl-terminated polyorganosiloxanes polymer network in different viscosities being cross-linked with branched silicone oil in the presence of an environmental-friendly and tin-free catalyst and cross-linkers while some inert and/or functional nanofillers are added into the composition to provide mechanical and/or functional properties to the resulting silicone sealant. A method for preparing the present composition is also provided.

Room temperature curable polyoranopolysloxane silicone sealant composition, the silicone sealant and method for preparing thereof

A polymer-modified hybrid-fibers cementitious composition has a one-day compressive strength of at least approximately 17 MPa, a 28-day tensile strength of at least approximately 3.8 MPa, an ultimate tensile strain of approximately 3% to approximately 9%, and a 7-day bond strength of at least approximately 2.3 MPa. A binder of ordinary Portland cement, fly ash, and silica fume is provided. Other components include limestone powder, sand, superplasticizer, and water. The composition further includes one or more of styrene butadiene rubber or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer in an amount ranging between approximately 2% and approximately 8% by mass of binder. Fiber additives include steel fibers in an amount ranging between approximately 0.3% and approximately 3.0% by volume of the cementitious composition and polymer fibers in an amount less than approximately 1.0% by volume of the cementitious composition. Chamfers made of the composition are positioned at beam-column joints.

Polymer-modified hybrid micro-fiber cementitious composite material

A composition for forming fire resistant concrete block, that includes a cementitious binder material comprising alumina cement, recycled fine aggregate, and recycled coarse aggregates, the recycled fine aggregates including 10-50 wt % recycled particulate glass cullet having a particle size of 600 microns or less, a concrete block formed from the composition exhibiting a decrease in thermal conductivity with increasing temperature at temperatures causing the particulate glass cullet to melt. A concrete block fabricated from the composition exhibits a fire resistance of at least three hours, a density below 2000 kg/m, and a compressive strength of at least 7 MPa.

Fire resistant eco concrete blocks containing waste glass

A method of applying a riblet structure coating on the internal surface of a pipe includes coating the internal surface of a pipe with a resin layer and applying a cavity mold having a reverse riblet pattern structure to the coated internal surface of the pipe. A flexible air bag is inserted into the interior of the pipe and charged with air to hold the mold against the coated internal surface of the pipe. The air bag may be charged with air for a sufficient amount of time to allow the coating to cure in the riblet shape of the mold. Afterwards, the air bag and the mold are removed from the pipe to yield a pipe coated with an internal riblet structure.

Method of coating interior surfaces with riblets

Synthetic aggregates are fabricated from greater than approximately 70 wt % waste starting materials. Starting materials may be selected from granulated ground blast furnace slag, waste concrete fines, or sewage sludge ash, and mixtures thereof. The starting materials are bound together by a hydraulic cementitious binder either added to the starting materials or formed in situ. The waste starting materials, binder, and water are formed into pellets and subjected to a hydraulic reaction and carbonation in an atmosphere of greater than approximately 50% carbon dioxide at temperatures less than approximately 100&#xb0; C. The resulting synthetic aggregate has a crush strength after a period of hardening equal to or greater than approximately 0.5 MPa.

Synthetic aggregate from waste materials

A high-workability, fire-resistant, anti-spalling concrete composition is provided. The concrete composition has a slump value of at least approximately 150 mm, a fire-resistant period of at least 4 hours, a compressive strength of at least 120 MPa at room temperature, and a compressive strength of at least 20 MPa at 700&#xb0; C. The composition includes cement, fly ash, silica fume, aggregate particles having a particle size Dof approximately 20 mm or less and superplasticizer. The composition includes fiber additives including steel fibers in an amount ranging between approximately 0.1% and approximately 0.4% by volume of the concrete composition and polypropylene fibers having a melting point of approximately 200&#xb0; C. or less in an amount ranging between approximately 0.05% and 0.3% by volume of the concrete composition. Carbon nanotubes are also present in an amount ranging between approximately 0.1% and approximately 0.3% by volume of the concrete composition.

High performance fire resistant concrete containing hybrid fibers and nano particles

A nano-modified dry-mixed alkali-activated cementitious, or one-part geopolymer cement (OPgC), material with high early strength is provided for rapid repair of cement-based infrastructure components. The OPgC may include an aluminosilicate rich material, an alkali material and a nano-modifier, and optionally include other functional admixtures and fibers. The OPgC can be freshly mixed with water to obtain a repairing material. The OPgC may mix with water and fine or coarse aggregate to form mortar or concrete. The OPgC can be an alternative binding matrix for the development of an environmentally friendly and cost effective rapid repair material.

Nano-modified alkali-activated cementitious materials for rapid repair

The present invention relates to a coating composition and method of manufacturing said coating composition. The coating composition is a two-component coating composition for construction surfaces. The present coating composition is effectively bonded to the surface without an additional application of intermediate layer overcoming the existing problems associated with conventional concrete surface treatment methods.

Ultra-flexible nano-modified cementitious waterproofing coating and method of manufacturing

A tire pressure monitoring sensor moveable inside a tire includes a housing holding a pressure sensing/transmitting unit, one or more batteries and an antenna for transmitting a signal indicating interior tire pressure. In one embodiment, the components are assembled within the housing such that the center of gravity is along a housing geometric center. During tire rotation, the monitor independently rotates within the tire and is particularly useful for slow-rotating tires, such as those used in gantry systems. Alternatively, the pressure monitoring sensor components are assembled within the housing such that the center of gravity is offset from a housing geometric center. Centripetal force generated during tire rotation causes the monitor to rotate with the tire itself and is useful for faster-rotating tires, such as motor vehicle tires. A tire pressure monitoring system includes the monitor and a receiver positioned outside the tire for receiving the monitoring signals.
