This EGR valve includes: a valve seat and a valve element provided in a flow passage of a housing; a valve shaft that moves the valve element relative to the valve seat; a step motor that drives the valve shaft together with the valve element; a bearing that drivably supports the valve shaft; a seal member having a lip part adjacent to the bearing and contacting the valve shaft to seal between the housing and the valve shaft; a mounting hole to retain the seal member in the housing; and a deposit guard member adjacent to the seal member to prevent deposits from entering into the mounting hole. One end of the seal member is provided with a seal protrusion protruding toward one end of the deposit guard member and contacting with the one end while being deformed to seal between the seal member and the deposit guard member.

EGR valve

An EGR valve includes: an inner housing including a flow passage; a valve element which opens and closes the flow passage; a valve shaft on which the valve element is provided; an outer housing in which the inner housing is assembled; and a drive unit which drives the valve shaft. The flow passage of the inner housing includes an inlet and an outlet. The outer housing includes an assembly hole and separate flow passages. When the inner housing is assembled in the assembly hole, the inlet and the outlet of the inner housing communicate with the separate flow passages of the outer housing; an inlet sealing member is provided between the inner housing and the outer housing to correspond to the periphery of the inlet; and an outlet sealing member is provided between the inner housing and the outer housing to correspond to the periphery of the outlet.

Valve device

An EGR apparatus includes an EGR passage to allow part of exhaust gas discharged from an engine to an exhaust passage to flow as EGR gas into an intake passage; an EGR valve to regulate an EGR flow rate in the EGR passage; various sensors for detecting an engine running state; and an ECU to control the EGR valve based on the detected running state to diagnose abnormality in the EGR valve. The ECU calculates a reference intake pressure according the detected engine rotation speed and load by reference to a reference intake pressure map showing a relationship of the reference intake pressure to engine rotation speed, and engine load, and determine whether or not the EGR valve has abnormality in opening/closing by comparing the reference intake pressure with the detected intake pressure.

EGR apparatus of engine

An EGR device is provided with: an EGR passage for allowing a portion of exhaust gas from an engine to flow to an intake passage; an EGR valve for adjusting an EGR flow rate through the EGR passage; a throttle valve provided in the intake passage; and an electronic control device which calculates a fully closed reference intake pressure based on an operating state of the engine during EGR valve fully-closing, and which diagnoses an abnormality due to valve-opening locking of the EGR valve based on the calculated fully closed reference intake pressure. The ECU determines a foreign matter biting abnormality of the EGR valve based on the intake pressure, and based on the result of adding the fully closed reference intake pressure, calculated according to the rotational speed and the load of the engine, to an intake-pressure increase allowance calculated according to the rotational speed.

Engine EGR device

An EGR gas distributor for distributing EGR gas to branch pipes of an intake manifold includes a plurality of gas distribution passages arranged side by side for the branch pipes, a gas inflow passage and a gas chamber to deliver the EGR gas to each of the gas distribution passages. The gas inflow passage includes two, first and second, gas passage parts branched in a single stage. When the EGR gas distributor is mounted on the intake manifold, a passage cross-section of each gas passage part perpendicular to a central axis has an uppermost vertex and a lowermost vertex. The passage cross-sections of the gas passage parts are sized such that their lengths in a vertical direction are gradually longer from an upstream side of the first gas passage part to a downstream side of the second gas passage part.

EGR gas distributor

An EGR system is configured to allow a part of exhaust gas discharged from an engine to an intake passage to flow as EGR gas to an intake passage through an EGR passage to return to the engine. In the EGR system, a heating film is provided on an inner wall or an outer wall of at least one of the intake passage through which the EGR gas is allowed to flow and the EGR passage. At least a pair of a positive electrode and a negative electrode is provided to energize the heating film.

EGR system

An EGR gas distributor includes a gas chamber, a gas inflow passage to introduce EGR gas on its upstream side, gas outflow passages to discharge the EGR gas to branch pipes on their downstream side. An inner wall on a downstream side of the gas chamber is divided into downstream-side divided walls corresponding to the respective gas outflow passages, and the downstream-side divided walls are curved or slanted to be of protrusion-like shape protruding toward the corresponding gas outflow passages. Downstream-side dividing ridges are provided each between the adjacent downstream-side divided walls. An inner wall on the upstream side of the gas chamber is placed to face the downstream-side inner wall and provided with at least one upstream-side ridge protruding toward the downstream-side divided walls in each area corresponding to the downstream-side divided walls.

An EGR system is configured to allow a part of exhaust gas discharged from an engine to an exhaust passage to flow as an EGR gas to an intake passage through an EGR passage to return to the engine. The EGR system includes a heating film provided on an inner wall of at least one of the intake passage through which the EGR gas flows, i.e., an intake manifold, and the EGR passage, at least one pair of a positive electrode and a negative electrode to energize the heating film, a water temperature sensor and an intake temperature for detecting a warm-up state of the intake passage and the EGR passage, and an electronic control unit configured to control energization of the heating film from before start of EGR based on the detected warm-up state.

This exhaust purification system includes: a pump disposed in an exhaust-side purge passage to supply air or purge gas purged from a canister to a catalyst; a three-way valve disposed upstream of the pump in the exhaust-side purge passage and configured to switch the exhaust-side purge passage between a communicating state allowing the pump to communicate with the canister and an atmosphere open state allowing the pump to communicate with the atmosphere; a flow control valve disposed downstream of the pump and configured to control a flow rate of air to be supplied to the catalyst; and a controller configured to, when a request to regenerate the catalyst occurs, control a purge valve, the pump, the three-way valve, and the flow control valve to supply, to the catalyst, purge gas purged from the canister and air by a necessary amount to burn particulates trapped in the catalyst.

Exhaust purification system

In a fuel cell system, when fully closing an upstream-side valve, a controller performs controlled fully-closed opening-degree control that adjusts the opening degree of the upstream-side valve to a controlled fully-closing opening degree greater than zero by means of a drive mechanism. Upon determining that, during the controlled fully-closed opening-degree control, there is a leakage of oxidant gas in the upstream-side valve, the controller corrects the controlled fully-closed opening degree to the valve-closing side until reaching a zero-position opening degree at which the amount of leakage of the oxidant gas in the upstream-side valve becomes zero.

Fuel cell system

A double eccentric valve: a valve seat; a rotary shaft; a valve gear with a rotary shaft base end portion; a motor rotating the shaft via a valve gear; bearings supporting the shaft in a cantilever manner; a return spring giving, to the valve gear, spring force for rotating the shaft in a valve body closing direction; and a full-close stopper to restrict valve gear rotation with the shaft when the valve body is fully closed. When the motor is not driven, the valve gear partially contacts the full-close stopper by spring force, moment acting on the valve gear is caused to act on the rotary shaft with the contact point serving as a fulcrum, the rotary shaft is tilted toward the valve seat with the contact point between the rotary shaft and the bearing serving as a fulcrum, and thus, the valve body is pressed against the valve seat.

Double eccentric valve

An EGR gas distributor for distributing EGR gas to each of branch pipes of an intake manifold includes a gas chamber, a gas inflow passage, and a plurality of gas distribution passages. The inner wall of the gas chamber on a downstream side is divided into a plurality of downstream divided walls corresponding to the gas distribution passages. On the boundary between adjacent two of the downstream divided walls, a downstream ridge is provided in a perpendicular direction to the arrangement direction of the gas distribution passages. The downstream ridges are arranged side by side in number corresponding to the number of gas distribution passages. The downstream ridges each include a side surface in the arrangement direction. The downstream ridges are different in at least one of height and inclination angle of the side surface according to the positions of the downstream ridges.

An eccentric valve has a drive mechanism, a drive force receiving part, a bearing for supporting a rotary shaft, and a return spring for generating a return spring force. During non-operation of the drive mechanism, the eccentric valve generates a separating-direction urging force to cause the rotary shaft to incline about the bearing serving as a fulcrum and urge the valve element in a direction away from the valve seat, the separating-direction urging force being a force caused by the return spring force. Either the valve element or the valve seat is provided with a sealing member to seal between the valve element and the valve seat during non-operation of the drive mechanism.

Eccentric valve

An engine system is provided with an electronic throttle device to regulate intake amount to the engine, an EGR device (EGR valve) to recirculate a part of exhaust gas of the engine to the engine as EGR gas, and an electronic control unit (ECU) to control the electronic throttle device and the EGR valve based on an operating state of the engine. The ECU performs feedback control of the electronic throttle device such that a detected engine rotation number becomes a target idle rotation number, and sets the target idle rotation number to a predetermined first set value for avoiding engine stall until a predetermined time elapses from start of deceleration and then shifts the target idle rotation number to a second set value lower than the first set value after the predetermined time elapses.

Gasoline engine system with improved idle up control upon detecting abnormality in valve during deceleration

An engine system includes a throttle device, an EGR valve, and an ECU. The ECU diagnoses foreign-matter lodging abnormality of the EGR valve and the foreign-matter diameter based on intake pressure. When the existence of the abnormality and the foreign-matter diameter are determined, the ECU calculates a difference between a foreign-matter diameter and a predetermined learning determination value as a foreign-matter diameter difference. If this difference is larger than an abnormality determination value, the foreign-matter diameter is judged to be excessive and the throttle device is controlled to avoid engine stall. If the foreign-matter diameter difference is equal to or larger than a normality determination value and also equal to or less than the abnormality determination value, engine deceleration is continued. If the foreign-matter diameter difference is less than the normality determination value, the foreign-matter diameter is judged to be minute and the learning determination value is updated.
