A resource coordinator manager automatically sets a LAN and a SAN for a server to be add according to an increase in load. An ASCC satellite executes a boot script to boot up a user application on the server. The ASCC satellite executes a stop script to stop a user application executed on a server to be returned to a server pool according to a decrease in load. The resource coordinator manager automatically releases a LAN and a SAN set for the server to be returned.

Computer product, method, and apparatus for managing operations of servers

A file management system which locates files with less processing load and provides more sophisticated file management tasks. A file manipulation command causes a file manipulation hander to execute a file system operation, which involves placement of a given file to a specified directory, thus assigning the specified directory as a parent directory of that file. The file placement operation causes a parent directory record manager to define a parent directory record of by setting thereto the file's parent directory identifier. Afterwards, when a parent directory inquiry about a specific file is issued, a parent directory inquiry handler retrieves the parent directory record of the specified file and outputs the identifier of the specified file's parent directory that is contained in the retrieved parent directory record.

File management system with parent directory search functions

A data access management system in a distributed processing system capable of immediately restoring the system as a whole, has computers connected to each other via LAN, and a secondary storage device to which the computers are connected via data transfer paths. An access control subsystem for executing a data access to the secondary storage device is executed on each of the computers. A file management subsystem for giving an authority for writing the data to each access control subsystem, is executed on specified computer. When the file management subsystem transmits, to a certain access control subsystem, access control information indicating the authority for writing the data to a specified block on the secondary storage device, the same access control information is saved in the transmitted-side access control subsystem, and its record is retained in the file management subsystem. If the file management subsystem falls into a process-down, a standby file management subsystem is determined to become a new file management subsystem. Then this standby file management subsystem requests each of the access control subsystems to notify of the access control information saved by each of the access control subsystems.

Data access management system in distributed processing system

A data processing system having an efficient logging mechanism which stores log records for repairing a file system when its consistency is lost. When there is a transaction attempting to update metadata stored in metadata volumes, a metadata loading unit reads the requested metadata objects out of the volumes and loads them to a metadata cache. At that time, a metadata manager updates its internal database to record from which metadata volume each metadata object has been fetched. Each time the transaction updates a metadata object in the cache, a log collection unit collects a copy of the updated metadata object, together with a volume ID which indicates its home metadata volume. The collected data is temporarily stored in a log buffer, and finally saved into a log volume by a log writing unit.

Data processing system with mechanism for restoring file systems based on transaction logs

A distributed processing system is capable of executing an operation for a shared file system, based on inputting a command to one node. A file operation client of the node to which the command for operating the shared file system is inputted, indicates a file operation server of each of all the nodes configuring the distributed processing system to update a shared file system management file possessed by each node in accordance with the command, and indicates the file operation server of its own node to update a node information table and a device information table in each of disks configuring the shared file system.
