A high-pressure pump is comprised of a lower housing, an upper housing and a cover, which are formed independently from each other. Thereby, shapes of the above can be simplified. Although the cylinder and the plunger receive a fuel pressure during a pressurization stroke, the upper housing and the cover do not receive fuel pressure directly from a pressurization chamber. Therefore, the upper housing and the cover can be made thin and light as much as possible.

High-pressure pump

During a pressurization stroke of a high-pressure pump, a cylinder inner wall and a plunger receive a fuel pressure from the pressurization chamber. Meanwhile, an upper housing does not receive the fuel pressure from the pressurization chamber, so that its thickness can be made thin. A cylinder is comprised of a bottom portion, a cylindrical portion and a large-diameter cylindrical portion. When inserting the large-diameter cylindrical portion into a large engaging hole, the bottom portion and the cylindrical portion are not brought into contact with a lower housing. A high liquid-tightness between the bottom portion, the cylindrical portion and a small engaging hole can be ensured.

A film-coated wire is wound around a terminal at least one turn and pressed by an upper electrode of a resistance welding machine. A current is passed through the upper electrode when the wire is pressed, and heat is produced. The heat melts a film on the wire. The current is passed between the upper electrode and the lower electrode via the wire and the terminal to connect the wire with the terminal by resistance welding. A contact area between the wire and the terminal is increased by winding the wire around the terminal. Therefore, the wire is less likely to shift its position when a force is applied by the upper electrode. This increases reliability of the connection. Moreover, the terminal is reduced in size because it is not required to be formed in a U-shape.

Method for connecting film-coated wire to subject member

There is provided a method for connecting an insulator coated wire with a conductive member while keeping the electrical resistance low and enough joint strength at the joint section therebetween without removing the coating film of the insulator coated wire beforehand. The conductive member has upper and lower pieces which pinch the insulator coated wire, and a gap between the upper and lower pieces varies at different locations. The wire and the conductive member have a good electrical connection at a region of the joint section where the gap between the upper and lower pieces is narrow. In addition, the connection strength of the wire and the conductive member can be enhanced at a region of the joint section where the gap between the upper and lower pieces is wide.

Method for connecting insulator coated wire

The invention provides a rotary electric machine and method of manufacturing same, having a plurality of conductor segments inserted in a plurality of slots of a stator core. The conductor segments are welded together at adjacent connection ends by a welding arc so that the welding arc forms melted portions. The melted portions form vestiges that swell in a circumferential direction.

Method and apparatus for welding a plurality of windings of rotary electric machine

A first member (11) and a second member (12) of metal materials of different kinds are overlapped one upon the other, and the surface of the first member (11) is irradiated with a laser beam to form a melt-solidified portion (2). The melt-solidified portion (2) has a nearly inverted triangular shape in cross section becoming gradually narrow toward the inside from the front surface side of the first member (11), and has a low-hardness layer (21) on the front surface side and a high-hardness layer (22) on the inside.
