An ethylene polymer containing 0.01 to 1.20 mol % of a constitutional unit derived from &#x3b1;-olefin having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, wherein with respect to cross fractionation chromatography (CFC), either (1) the weight average molecular weight (Mw) of the components eluted at 73 to 76&#xb0; C. does not exceed 4,000, or (2) the ethylene polymer satisfies the following relationship (Eq-1), provides a molded product having excellent moldability and therefore excellent mechanical strength and appearance:&#x2266;0.1&#x2003;&#x2003;(Eq-1)wherein Sis the sum of the total peak areas related to the components eluted at 70 to 85&#xb0; C., and Sis the sum of the total peak areas related to the components eluted at 0 to 145&#xb0; C.

Ethylene polymer and application thereof to moldings

An ethylene (co)polymer of the present invention is a (co)polymer with excellent moldability and mechanical properties and either an ethylene homopolymer or a copolymer of ethylene and an &#x3b1;-olefin of 4 to 20 carbon atoms. The (co)polymer has methyl branches measured byC-NMR less than 0.1 in number per 1,000 carbon atoms and Mw/Mn measured by GPC not lower than 1.8 and lower than 4.5. The (co)polymer is either an ethylene homopolymer or a copolymer of ethylene and an &#x3b1;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms. The melt tension (MT) and the swell ratio (SR) satisfy the relation; log(MT)&#x3e;12.9&#x2212;7.15&#xd7;SR; and the intrinsic viscosity ([&#x3b7;]) and the melt flow rate (MFR) satisfy the relation; [&#x3b7;]&#x3e;1.85&#xd7;MFRin the case of MFR&#x3c;1 and the relation; [&#x3b7;]&#x3e;1.85&#xd7;MFRin the case of MFR&#x2267;1. Such an ethylene (co)polymer can be usable for various molding applications and especially suitable for pipes.

Ethylene (co) polymer and its use

The present invention provides ethylene polymers capable of preparing various molded articles such as films, sheets or the like, and having excellent moldability, particularly excellent high-speed moldability. The ethylene polymers of the present invention have a density and molecular weight distribution in specific ranges. The first ethylene polymer is characterized by having (C) a ratio (MFR/MFR) of a melt flow rate (MFR) at 190&#xb0; C. under a load of 10 Kg to a melt flow rate (MFR) at 190&#xb0; C. under a load of 2.16 Kg of from 16.2 to 50. The second ethylene polymer is characterized by having (C) a ratio (MFR/MFR) from 12 to 50. The third ethylene polymer is characterized by having (D) a relation of &#x3c9;2/&#x3c9;1&#x2267;18 where &#x3c9;1 and &#x3c9;2 denote angular velocity (rad/sec) when complex elastic modulus G* (dyne/cm) at 200&#xb0; C. is 5.0&#xd7;10dyne/cmand 2.0&#xd7;10dyne/cm, respectively, which are determined by measurement of the angular velocity dependence of the complex elastic modulus of the copolymer.

Ethylene polymer, preparation process thereof and molded articles of the same

An ethylene (co)polymer of the present invention is a (co)polymer with excellent moldability and mechanical properties and either an ethylene homopolymer or a copolymer of ethylene and an &#x3b1;-olefin of 4 to 20 carbon atoms. Ethylene (co)polymers and uses thereof

An ethylene-based polymer which is an ethylene/C4 to C10 &#x3b1;-olefin copolymer and satisfies the following requirements [k1] to [k3]: [k1] melt flow rate (MFR) under a loading of 2.16 kg at 190&#xb0; C. is in the range of 1.0 to 50 g/10 minutes; [k2] LNR defined as a scale of neck-in upon film molding is in the range of 0.6 to 1.4; and [k3] take-up speed at break [DS (m/min)] at 160&#xb0; C. and melt flow rate (MFR) satisfy the following relationship (Eq-1): 12&#xd7;MFR&#x2266;DS&#x2266;165&#xd7;MFR(Eq-1), and a thermoplastic resin composition containing the ethylene-based polymer, provide a molded product, preferably a film, excellent in moldability and mechanical strength. The ethylene-based polymer can be efficiently obtained by polymerization in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst formed from a solid carrier, (A) a solid transition metal catalyst component obtained by contacting (a) a compound of a transition metal of the group 4 in the periodic table, containing at least one ligand having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton, (b) an organoaluminum oxy compound, (c) a multifunctional organic halide, and if necessary (d) an organoaluminum compound, and if necessary (B) organoaluminum compound.

Ethylened polymer and molded object obtained therefrom

The present invention relates to a polymer having a melt tension (MT (g)) substantially the same as or lower than that of a conventional polymer which is substantially the same as the polymer in the recurring unit of the main skeleton, the molecular weight, the molecular weight distribution and the crystallinity, and having a flow activation energy (Ea (KJ/mol)) larger than a value obtained by adding 5 KJ/mol to the Ea value of the conventional polymer. A preferred example of the polymer is a branched polyolefin comprising 50 to 100% by mol of recurring units derived from ethylene and 0 to 50% by mol of recurring units derived from an &#x3b1;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and having the following properties: the flow activation energy (Ea (KJ/mol)) and the &#x3b1;-olefin content (C (% by weight)) satisfy a specific relation, and the melt tension (MT (g)) and the melt flow rate (MFR (g/10 min)) satisfy a specific relation. This branched polyolefin is excellent in moldability and mechanical strength.

Polymer and process for producing the same

An ethylene copolymer composition comprising an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer, A-4, of ethylene with an &#x3b1;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms in an amount of 65-98% by weight, whose melt tension, MT, at 190&#xb0; C. and MFR satisfy the relation MT&#x3e;2.2&#xd7;MFR, and at least one crystalline polyolefin, B-2, in an amount of 1-40% by weight selected from the group consisting of, B-I, an ethylene homopolymer or a copolymer of ethylene with an &#x3b1;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms, prepared using a non-metallocene type catalyst, B-II, a propylene hompolymer or a copolymer of propylene with at least one olefin selected from ethylene and an &#x3b1;-olefin of 4 to 20 carbon atoms, and, B-III, a homopolymer of an &#x3b1;-olefin of 4 to 20 carbon atoms or a copolymer of &#x3b1;-olefins of 4 to 20 carbon atoms, and articles made from the composition.

Ethylene copolymer and uses thereof

An ethylene copolymer composition comprising an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer (A-1), which has a density, a melt flow rate (MFR), an amount of a n-decane-soluble portion in the specific ranges and whose melt tension (MT) at 190&deg; C. and MFR satisfy the relation MT>2.2&times;MFR , and one (co)polymer selected from the group consisting of (B-1) a low-density polyethylene obtained by high-pressure radical polymerization, (B-2) a crystalline polyolefin and (B-3) an olefin type elastomer. Also disclosed is an ethylene copolymer composition comprising an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer composition and the low-density polyethylene (B-1) obtained by high-pressure radical polymerization, said ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer (A-2) and (A-3) both having physical properties similar to those of the above ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer (A-1) and having intrinsic viscosities different from each other. The ethylene copolymer compositions of the invention are excellent in heat stability and moldability, and able to form films of high transparency, high mechanical strength and anti-blocking resistance.

Process for manufacturing an extruded article and an extruded article

A process for preparing an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer, which includes the steps of (A) copolymerizing ethylene and an &agr;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms by continuous vapor phase polymerization; (B) copolymerization is conducted in the presence of a prepolymerized catalyst obtained by prepolymerizing an olefin in the presence of (a) a transition metal compound, (b) an organoaluminum oxy-compound, (c) a fine particle carrier, and optionally (d) an organoaluminum compound; and (C) copolymerization is conducted under such condition that the partial pressure of sum total of ethylene and &agr;-olefin is 10 to 28 kg/cm . The resulting ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer has the following properties: (i) the density is in the range of 0.880 to 0.960 g/cm , (ii) the melt flow rate of 190&deg; C. under a load of 2.16 kg is in the range of 0.1 to 100 g/10 min, (iii) the melt tension (MT (g)) at 190&deg; C. and the melt flow rate (MFR (g/10 min)) satisfy the relation MT&lE;2.2&times;MFR .

Process for preparing an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer

The present invention provides a packaging film which exhibits excellent mechanical strength properties such as high dart impact strength with retaining properties of transparency and film surface smoothness. The ethylene resin packaging film comprises an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer having the following properties: the density is in the range of 0.918 to 0.935 g/cm ; the melt flow rate (MFR) at 190&deg; C. under a load of 2.16 kg is in the range of 0.05 to 1.0 g/10 min; the decane-soluble component fraction (W) at room temperature and the density (d) satisfy the relation W<80&times;exp(&minus;100(d&minus;0.88))&plus;0.1; the flow index (FI), which is defined as a shear rate at which the shear stress of said copolymer in a molten state at 190&deg; C. reaches 2.4&times;10 dyne/cm , and MFR satisfy the relation FI>75&times;MFR; and the melt tension (MT) at 190&deg; C. and MFR satisfy the relation MT>2.2&times;MFR .

Ethylene resin packaging films

Ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer with olefin type elastomer, each having particular properties, including density and melt flow rate, with a density ratio of elastomer to copolymer of less than 1, provide compostions which have excellent moldability and form films having high mechanical strength.
