A refrigerator for use on vehicles and having a storage chamber horizontally divided into a plurality of spaces by shelves, each of which is preferably adjustable to provide for adjustment of the spaces. An air passage means is defined in the refrigerator to form a closed air circulation passage in each of the spaces with refrigerating means associated with each air circulation passage whereby the temperature in each of the spaces can be independently control.

A container for use in transporting refrigerated and/or frozen merchandise by transporting vehicle or the like together with other normal parcels and packages comprising an insulated container in which the refrigerated/frozen merchandise is stored and which is designed to be loaded onto and to be unloaded from the transporting vehicle or the like, and two refrigerating units for refrigerating the interior space thereof while at a warehouse or other facility and while carried on the transporting vehicle or the like. One of the refrigerating units is assembled on the transporting vehicle or the like and connectable with the container for the circulation of air between the container and the refrigerating unit. The other refrigerating unit is disposed on the container and operated by commercial electric power.

Transporting system for refrigerated merchandise

A refrigerated display case having an improved air outlet nozzle is disclosed. The display case includes an insulated enclosure having an access opening in the front and means for establishing an air curtain across the opening from an upper air outlet to a lower air inlet. A nozzle structure is removably disposed on the discharge opening to define the air stream layer. The nozzle is formed as a gridlike honeycomb section having a plurality of flat tube elements each of which are stacked against each other and bound together through a removable fastening device. This facilitates maintenance of the nozzle. The flat tube elements may also be formed having air passageways of progressively differing cross sectional areas to decrease turbulance between the air stream and adjacent ambient air.

A refrigerating apparatus for individually refrigerating a plurality of chambers by a single compressor is disclosed. The refrigerating apparatus includes a plurality of evaporators which are disposed one in each of the respective chambers, and are coupled with each other in parallel. An electromagnetic valve is coupled to each evaporator in series to control the flow of refrigerant, and an expansion valve such as a capillary tube also is coupled to each evaporator in series, to thereby form a plurality of electromagnetic valve-expansion valve-evaporator combinations. An additional heat exchanger is disposed in the refrigerating circuit in parallel with the parallel electromagnetic valve-expansion valve-evaporator combinations through a valve device. The valve device allows adjustment of the flow of refrigerant to the evaporators and the additional heat exchanger to maintain the chambers at their desired temperature without varying the capacity of the compressor. The additional heat exchanger may be defrosted during operation of the refrigerating circuit by serving as a condenser.
