Inventors of the present invention have found that, by manufacturing a stress-buffering material with a Ca-containing aluminum alloy including 0.1 to 12 at % of Ca, the stress-buffering material at low cost, capable of expanding its use in various fields, and having low Young's modulus that is beyond a conventional level, can be obtain.

A high temperature abrasion resistant copper alloy suitable for the material of an engine parts such as valve seats and valve guides. The copper alloy comprises aluminum in an amount ranging from 1.0 to 5.0% by weight; at least one selected from vanadium, niobium and tantalum in the group Va of the periodic table of elements, in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 5.0% by weight; and balance including copper and impurities. The copper alloy has a texture in which at least one kind of intermetallic compounds is dispersed, each intermetallic compound kind containing aluminum, at least one selected from elements of the group Va of the periodic table, and silicon.

A process of producing a wear-resistant cast aluminum alloy includes casting a melt of the alloy composition at a cooling rate of from 50.degree. to 200.degree. C./sec.

A magnesium Mg--Al--RE magnesium alloy wherein an amount of a rare earth component may be reduced while optimial tensile strength and durability are obtained. The Alloy further includes a small calcium component. A high degree of creep resistance is obtained. Further, additional copper and/or zinc components may be introduced together, or singly for providing favorable tensile characteristics to the alloy material.

A Ti-Al type lightweight heat-resistant consists essentially of 32 to 36% w of Al, 0.1 to 2.0% w of Si, 0.1 to 5.0% w of Nb, 0.1 to 3.0% w of Cr, and optionally 0.005 to 0.200% w of B, the balance being substantially Ti. The alloy has improved oxidation resistance together with excellent ductility and strength at room temperature and high temperature.
