A grommet is provided with an elastic grommet body, a mounting groove, a seal material and a cover portion. The grommet body has a first cylindrical portion disposed at one side, a second cylindrical portion disposed at the other end and a third cylindrical portion disposed within the first cylindrical portion. The first cylindrical portion has a maximum inner diameter larger than a maximum inner diameter of the second cylindrical portion. The third cylindrical portion projects to the one side from an inner peripheral surface of the first cylindrical portion. The inner peripheral surface of the second cylindrical portion and the inner peripheral surface of the third cylindrical portion defines a harness insertion portion in which a wire harness is inserted from one side to the other side. The inner peripheral surface of the first cylindrical portion and the outer peripheral surface of the third cylindrical portion defines an annular space for allowing the first cylindrical portion to elastically deform. The mounting groove is annually formed on the outer peripheral surface of the first cylindrical portion. The seal material is filled in the harness insertion portion in a state that the wire harness is inserted. The cover portion is disposed in an end portion of one side of the grommet body and closes the annular space without affecting an elastic deformation of the first cylindrical portion. The grommet can be easily mounted by the closed annular space, and a sound prevention performance can be improved.

A connector-mounting structure for mounting a pair of mating connectors for connecting wires conducting electrical current comprises a bracket which is mounted to a member of an automobile, for example. A first connector which houses a plurality of first terminals with wires connected thereto is placed in the bracket. A second connector which houses a plurality of second terminals with wires connected thereto is connected to the first connector. Pivot pins, slots or slot and a hole, and stopping members are formed in the bracket and first connector so as to hold the first connector at a first position for connecting the second connector to the first connector and to retain the first connector at a second position to which the first connector is moved from the first position by turning.

Adjustable position connector mounting structure

A tying band cluster consists of a plurality of tying bands connected in series, end to end, in longitudinal direction. Each of the tying bands has a head portion, a projecting piece formed at one end of the head portion, and a major portion of a band body formed at the other end of the head portion. When a tying band is formed, the projecting piece of the current tying band is fused with the free end of the major portion of the previous tying band. Because the major portion of the previous tying band is left in the molding dies when the next tying band is formed, the major portion of the previous tying band is kept heated and can therefore be fused completely with the projecting piece of the tying band currently being formed. This ensures a solid connection between the tying bands.

Combined fastener and support for electrical wires

An electric wire bundler is disclosed in which an anchor is provided on a bottom of an electric wire rest, and a boss is provided on a top of the rest so that an end face of the boss is located at a distance from an axis of the anchor. A flexible band extends from the boss and has a plurality of engaging portions at intervals in the longitudinal direction of the band. The boss has an insertion hole, into which the band is inserted from the end face. The boss is provided with an engaging means, which is engaged with one of the engaging portions of the band inserted into the hole.

Disclosed herein is a grommet for supporting a bundle of electric wires which passes a fixing hole formed in a partition panel. The grommet comprises an elastic member and a rigid member to be assembled with the elastic member. The elastic member has a wire securing portion in which the bundle of the electrical wires is secured, a sealing lip to be in contact with the partition panel and a fitting portion having an outer periphery on which a concave portion is formed. The rigid member has a lock portion to be locked with the partition panel and a fitted portion to be fitted onto the fitting portion of the elastic member. The fitted portion has an inner periphery on which a convex portion to be engaged with the concave portion of the fitting portion of the elastic member when the elastic member is assembled with the rigid member is formed. The grommet can realize easy and stable composition of the elastic portion and the rigid portion with high sealability.

Disclosed is a strands protector which comprises a U-shaped housing having a three-dimensionally bent bottom wall and side walls upstanding from the bottom wall, and a cover member connected by a hinge to the housing to close the opening of the housing and releasably secured to the housing by locking means. The cover member includes a hinge at a position corresponding to the location of the bent portion of the bottom wall of the housing. Also disclosed is a locking mechanism which comprises a locking arm provided on one of two hinge-connected members and an arm-engaging receptacle provided on the other member. The locking arm has an end projection adapted to be inserted in a central hole of the receptacle to secure the two members together, and the receptacle has a projection insertion cutout at a position where interference occurs between the projection of the locking arm and the receptacle when one of these two members is superposed on the other.

Clamping strap for electrical wires

Disclosed is a bundled strands protector of a type of a U-shaped housing. The protector comprises a partition member upstanding from the bottom wall of the housing, a locking member provided on the free end of the partition member, and a retaining member hinged to one of the side walls of the housing and releasably engageable with the other side wall, the retaining member being provided with an engaging hole engageable with the locking member.

The invention provides an improved method for forming a cover layer over a joint of electrical wires. Portions of insulation layers of wires to be joined are stripped and the bared conductors of the wires assembled in a desired configuration to form a joint. The joint is placed in a transparent mold and the mold is filled with a photosetting resin. Radiation of an appropriate wavelength is then passed through the mold to harden the resin.

Method for forming cover layer over wire joint

To reliably sheath two coupled conductors of two wires, a tube made of a light transmittable material is fitted to the two coupled conductors and adjoining wire insulating covers; a photohardening resin is put into a gap formed between the tube and the wires; and the photohardening resin is irradiated from outside the tube with an ultraviolet ray into hard polymer. The sheath thus formed is resistant against moisture and strong in mechanical strength.

Method of forming filled protective sheath on coupled wire conductors

To improve noise prevention and waterproof effects and simultaneously wiring workability of a funnel-shaped grommet used for wiring a wire bundle or a cable through a panel, a sealing material is put into the grommet from above to fill a space between a small-diameter cylindrical portion of the grommet and the wire bundle and gaps between wires. The sealing material is a two-liquid polyurethane resin based bonding agent or a nitrile rubber based bonding agent.

A band clamp for bundling cables in an automobile. The band clamp has a body 10 with a band 12 extending from one end thereof and a band receiving aperture 15 another end. In the lower side, the band 12 has a plurality of grooves 13 laterally extending while a locking pawl 16 is formed in the inner wall 15' of the band receiving slot 15 for engagement with one of the grooves. The band clamp further has a pair of upstanding walls 20 having a V-shaped cuts on their top surfaces. Cables C placed on the body across the V-shaped cuts is subjected to a positive clamping power in the V-shaped cuts.
