In a control device for an internal combustion engine having a turbocharger with a variable turbo flow rate, and an intake valve provided with a variable valve mechanism, mirror cycle operation is performed. The control device includes a device which calculates an intake air quantity per unit time and an intake air quantity per cycle on the basis of torque required to the internal combustion engine. The turbocharger is controlled so that, with the calculated intake air quantity per unit time, supercharging pressure is further increased in a range in which the ratio of exhaust pressure to supercharging pressure is equal to or less than a predetermined value. A further device, which controls the variable valve mechanism on the basis of the supercharging pressure and the calculated intake air quantity per cycle.

Method and apparatus for controlling an internal combustion engine

When an engine torque trace is set during acceleration or deceleration, the ratio of increase or decrease in the engine torque per unit time is restricted so that when the engine torque generated during acceleration or deceleration approaches an engine torque (balance torque) at which the engine is oriented upright with respect to the engine mount, the engine torque stays near the balance torque for a prescribed time.

Engine controller

A vehicle control apparatus is provided which can detect a rotating speed drop of an engine generated together with a clutch connection so as to be set to a trigger of a control start. An engine rotating speed at a time of issuing the trigger is set to a target rotating speed, and a rotating speed feedback control having an engine torque as an operation amount is carried out. An ignition retard and a fuel cut are provided as an operator for engine torque in addition to an intake air amount operation by an electronically controlled throttle.

When a throttle is fully open, a maximum torque set value is corrected based on the ratio between the maximum air volume set value under fully-open throttle conditions and the actual maximum air volume detected by an intake air volume meter such as an air flow sensor. Based on the corrected maximum torque set value, both the relation between the degree of accelerator opening and target torque and the relation between the target torque (target air volume) and the degree target throttle opening are corrected. Thus, even when various types of disturbances relating to torque error are generated, such as variations in air density generated in association with variations in temperature or altitude, variations over time such as contaminations of throttle chambers, or difference between machines such as engine bodies or auxiliary machines, it is possible to generate actual torque with respect to a target torque with a high degree of accuracy, while maintaining a desired relation between the degree of accelerator opening and the throttle opening.

Engine controller and controlling method

An engine control system, which is adaptable for individual differences among engines, changes with time, environmental changes, etc., and which can control engine torque with high accuracy and high response. The engine control system comprises a unit for detecting engine torque in at least one of direct and indirect manners, a unit for computing an engine control parameter, and a unit for modifying the engine control parameter based on the detected torque detected by the engine torque detecting unit.

The internal combustion engine controller comprises target torque computation means for computing the target torque based on the demand torque of the internal combustion engine such as the operation quantity of an accelerator, means of computing the target throttle angle based on the target torque, and torque assist control means for assisting torque based on the state of the target torque and the operation state of the internal combustion engine. The above torque assist control means carries out torque assist control by increasing the quantity of fuel when a torque increase is demanded.

A spark advance controller capable of controlling spark advance in an internal combustion engine with high accuracy without requiring a larger number of data maps and performing laborious optimization tests using an actual engine. In the spark advance controller, map data for controlling the spark advance is computed by a numerical simulator simulating an internal combustion engine, and the map data for spark advance control is approximated with a regression model. The spark advance is computed by using the regression model depending on the detected operating conditions.

Intake-air measuring apparatus for internal combustion engine

A variable-speed electromechanical energy converter includes a wound-type induction motor and a power rectifier connected to a secondary winding of the motor to convert AC power produced by the motor into DC power. A chopper is connected to an output of the power converter to control the output thereof according to a control signal and a capacitor is connected through a rectifier device to the chopper. A power inverter converts DC power stored in the capacitor into AC power which is fed back to an AC system connected to the motor. The motor includes a cage rotor disposed between a wound rotor and a rotor shaft, the cage rotor being separated from the rotor shaft by an inner gap and separated from the wound rotor by a middle gap so as to rotate independently of the rotor shaft.

There is disclosed a fuel supply control apparatus for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine having an injector with air assist, a reasonable system in which injection is made during intake stroke when air assist air is supplied by the air assist, and injection is made during exhaust stroke when no air assist is effected, and an air assist volume, a droplet size and an operating condition are combined. With this construction, the fuel injection timing is shifted from the intake stroke side to the exhaust stroke side in accordance with an air assist volume so as to enhance the exhaust gas quality in which optimum micro-granulation and atomization of fuel are held, the fuel efficiency and the drivability.

Control apparatus for multi-cylinder internal combustion engine

The present invention relates to a cylinder identifying device to identify the cylinder or cylinders of a running internal combustion engine in a specific stroke, and more particularly to a cylinder identifying device for internal combustion engines suitable for automotive use. A signal plate for detecting revolutions, fitted to the camshaft, is provided with two signal generating means per cylinder; a cylinder identifying signal is added before said two signals; and two sensors are so arranged as to have a phase difference from the detection of said projection. Bit patterns are prepared from the outputs of these two sensors correspondingly to individual cylinders, and cylinder identification is accomplished according to the combination of these patterns. The phase difference here is so set that the number of signals detected by the second sensor (sub-crank angle sensor, hereinafter abbreviated SCAS), out of said two sensors, between signals detected by the first sensor (base crank angle sensor, hereinafter abbreviated to BCAS), can be one of three kinds. A signal from a BCAS signal input means is received, and the number of signals generated is measured by a signal counting means. Further a SCAS signal is received by a SCAS signal input means, and bit patterns are generated by a bit preparing means. Cylinder identification is performed according to a bit pattern for cylinder identification from a cylinder identification criterion storage means, another bit pattern generated by said bit preparing means and the number of signals generated by the signal counting means.
