A seat position control mechanism with a neutral position return mechanism for a front seat of a vehicle such as two-door sedan or hard top sedan incorporates a memory plate disposed outside the locking teeth of the locking plate of the seat slide adjusting device, a rockable lever journaled with the maneuverable shaft rockably secured to the locking lever, and connecting means connected from the rockable lever to the back rest of the front seat, in addition to the ordinary seat slide adjusting device. The rockable lever is always urged by the rotating force of the torsion spring in the seat locking direction so that the maneuverable shaft can be locked or unlocked regardless of the rockable lever. Thus, the entire mechanism is low bulky, compact and light with simple construction, and the front seat can be smoothly slid without interference with the rockable lever and other members.

Vehicle seat position control mechanism with neutral memory

A webbing retractor for winding an occupant restraining webbing in an emergency of a vehicle, wherein one end of one of resilient members, which are serially connected to each other, is connected to a takeup shaft, and, when a vehicle door is closed, a locking device is adapted to lock connecting portions of the resilient members, whereby bias of one of the resilient members is prevented from acting on said takeup shaft to lighten a takeup force, thereby relieving the oppressive feeling applied to the occupant.

Webbing retractor

A device for adjusting the inclined angle of the seating surface of the seat cushion of an automotive seat essentially mounted in a vehicle. A pair of seat slide adjusting units are fixed to seat slide upper rails arranged on a floor surface and are disposed at both sides of a seat cushion frame. A sector gear plate is so secured to a bracket fixedly secured to the seat slide adjusting unit as to be elevationally rocked at its base around a fulcrum. Another bracket is fixedly secured to the seat sliding adjusting unit. A pinion gear rotated by a handle knob is journaled at the another bracket at a fulcrum. The pinion gear is coupled through a non-reversing unit with the handle knob in a manner that the gear may be freely rotated by the operation of the knob but may not be rotated by the rotating load applied from the pinion gear side. The pinion gear is engaged in mesh with the teeth of the gear plate. A link is pivotally secured to a pin secured at the intermediate portion between the base and the teeth of the gear plate at the lower portion and is also pivotally secured at the axial hole of the upper portion thereof to the seat cushion frame. A bracket is also fixedly secured at the same situation as the previous bracket to the other seat slide adjusting unit. Thus, when the knob is manipulated, the seat cushion can be tilted up or down in response to the sitting person's physique or preference to his most comfortable attitude.

Device for adjusting inclined angle of seating surface of seat cushion

A seatbelt system including a lap webbing wound up by a retractor and turned back through a lap slip anchor swingably installed on the floor of the vehicle. Furthermore, the seatbelt is of such an arrangement that a center of the retractor and a center of the lap slip anchor are displaced relative to each other and the rotating range of the lap slip anchor is controlled whereby the wind out angle and wind up angle of the lap webbing relative to the retractor is controlled.

A seatbelt system wherein the proximal ends of a lap webbing and a shoulder webbing are wound up doubly by a single take-up shaft, the forward portions of said webbings are connected to each other, and the connected portion of the webbings is inserted through an insertion opening of a tongue plate engageable with a buckle for installation of the webbings, said connected portion being provided with a pair of stoppers limiting the movement of the tongue plate and forcedly winding out the webbing wound outside of the other webbing for preventing the webbing wound outside from loosening in a retractor case.

A retractor for restraining webbings wherein two webbings, i.e., a lap restraining webbing and a shoulder restraining webbing are wound round a single take-up shaft one over the other, and tension detecting means is provided for detecting the tension of the remaining wound-up portion of at least one of said two restraining webbings. Said tension detecting means has such a construction that when the tension of said one of the restraining webbings is lower than a predetermined value, it prevents the wind-off rotation of said take-up shaft, whereby said one of the restraining webbings, which is wound off as accompanied with the wind-out of the other restraining webbing, is prevented from being slackened and blocking up the interior of retractor.

Retractor for restraining webbings

A reclining device for a seat comprises a first plate fixed to a seat portion, a second plate fixed to a back rest and pivoted to the first plate to permit forward and rearward reclining movements of the back rest, a toothed member secured to the second plate, and a pawl member pivoted to the first plate and movable between a locked position in which the pawl member engages the toothed member and an unlocked position in which the pawl member disengages from the toothed member. The reclining device further includes a hand lever pivoted to the first plate and operatively connected with the pawl member to move the pawl member toward the unlocked position, a cam element integrally provided with the hand lever and engageable with the bottom face of the pawl member to hold the pawl member in the locked position, a foot lever pivoted to the first plate coaxially with the pawl member and interlocked with the hand lever, and a spring biasing the hand lever toward a released position to engage the cam element with the pawl member. In the assembly, the pawl member and the cam element are arranged in a common vertical plane with the toothed member and the hand and foot levers are arranged in a common vertical plane with the second plate, thereby to reduce the width of the reclining device.

Adjusting device for reclining seat

A seat belt restraining system utilizing restraining belts which are wound up on a single retractor shaft one over the other. In the seat belt restraining system at least one of the restraining belts is provided along its entire length with a material which is more rigid than the restraining belt but which can also be bent so that the restraining belt can be wound up by a retractor mechanism.

A passenger restraining belt retractor for winding up two restraining belts on a single retractor shaft over the other including a base, a retractor shaft rotatably supported by said base for winding up the belts during retraction, a guide, a roller which engages with and presses against the guide one of the belts, the roller being arranged and configured to rotate as the other one of the two belts is extended thereby insuring that both belts are extended simultaneously.

A seat belt device for holding an occupant of a seat of a vehicle by the shoulder and the waist portions thereof by stringing a belt in a loop fashion, wherein a stopper is provided on a shoulder belt portion thereof between a sash guide and a tongue plate so that the position on said shoulder belt where said stopper is detained can be adjusted by shifting the belt in the longitudinal direction thereof and said stopper cannot pass through an opening in said tongue plate, thereby avoiding imparting a feeling of oppression by the shoulder belt portion to the occupant wearing the seat belt.

A seat belt retractor system of the type wherein two seat belts are wound up on a single retractor shaft one over the other. The retractor includes a base, a retractor shaft rotatably supported by the base and a fastening means provided on both seat belts whereby the seat belts are easily fastened together when the seat belts contact each other during retraction and are easily separated when the seat belts are separated during extension.

A webbing guide for use with a three-point seat belt comprising a lug member mounted to a rear side end portion of a seat so as to hold a tongue plate provided at an intermediate mounting portion of the webbing of the seat belt when the seat belt is not used and to guide one end of a lap belt portion of the seat belt when it is worn by a man sitting on the seat.
