A control method for supplying an inert gas from an inert gas source to a storage container for a molten metal through a gas feed path provided with a flow sensor for monitoring the gas flow rate and a solenoid valve for opening and closing the gas feed path for use with metal molding. The control method includes steps of turning off the solenoid valve if a temperature of the storage container is lower than a preset temperature, and turning off the flow sensor; otherwise turning on the solenoid valve and turning on the flow sensor; and stopping the output of the heater of the storage container when the gas flow rate is lower than the preset amount; these steps are controlled in accordance with a command signal from a controller.

Control method for supplying inert gas during metal molding

A device for melting, storing, and feeding a metal material is provided which can store a large amount of molten metal material corresponding to molding cycles with a compact configuration, using barrels to melt bar-shaped metal materials and a tank-and-barrel storage unit to store the molten metal material. The storage unit for the molten metal material is composed of an upper storage tank and a lower material temperature control barrel having a smaller diameter, the barrel being perpendicularly arranged under and in communication with the bottom center of the tank. The melting barrels for bar-shaped metal materials are made of barrel bodies having an inside diameter and a length appropriate to accommodate the bar-shaped metal materials. A more than one melting barrel is vertically arranged in parallel on a lid member of the storage tank, with their bottom openings facing the inside of the storage tank.

Injection molding machine for low-melting point metallic material

A carbon nano material and a resin binder are plasticized and injection molded to form a preliminarily molded member. The preliminarily molded member is degreased by a heat treatment and made to a preliminarily molded porous member composed of the carbon nano material. The preliminarily molded porous member is inserted into a cavity of a product mold. A molten low melting point metal is injected into and fills the cavity. The preliminarily molded porous member is impregnated with the low melting point metal by injection pressure, thereby a composite metal product composed of the low melting point metal material integrally composited with the carbon nano material is molded. With the above arrangement, the characteristics of the carbon nano material are applied to the composite metal product to improve the functions thereof.

Composite metal product of carbon nano material and low melting point metal and method of producing the same

An injection molding machine for low-melting point metallic material has an injection mechanism having a tip portion, a melting cylinder and a rear portion holding a drive mechanism. The tip portion has a weighing chamber and a nozzle member feeding a mold. The melting cylinder is held at an oblique angle to promote gravity flow of the molten metal toward the tip portion. The melting cylinder encloses an agitating and injection mechanism that rotates and advances or retreats freely within the cylinder. One agitating and injection mechanism has a hollow shaft surrounding an injection rod tipped by an injection plunger that moves lengthwise in the shaft and agitating wings disposed around the tip end of the hollow shaft. The wings reach the inner sides of the cylinder and rotate. The plunger may extend beyond the shaft to be inserted in the weighing chamber.

A low melting point metal material is made to a thixotropic state in which liquid phases and solid phases coexists. In the thixotropic state of the low melting point metal material, a carbon nano material is kneaded with the low melting point metal material and forms a composite material. Thus obtained composite material is supplied to a metal molding machine and injected into a mold in a thixotropic state or a completely molten state of the metal so that the composite material fills the mold, thereby the composite material is molded to a composite metal product. With the above process, it is possible to injection mold the composite metal product to which the characteristics of the carbon nano material are applied.

Method for producing a composite metal product

An injection method and apparatus for melted metals are provided to transfer the metals, to melt them by external heat, and to meter and degas the metals by employing a reservoir to reserve metals in liquid phase. The injection apparatus includes a heating cylinder having a fore end portion which communicates with a nozzle member and of which internal diameter is made smaller to serve as a metering chamber, and an injection screw installed within the heating cylinder to be movable and rotational. A reservoir for reserving melted metals in liquid phase has an axis provided between the plunger and a feeding portion containing a screw flight around the axis. A projected portion for limiting the feeding of granular metals flowing to the reservoir and for preventing the metals in liquid phase from flowing backward during injection is provided on a boundary between the feeding portion and the reservoir.

Injection method for melted metals

An injection molding screw prevents materials from being left and reduces friction by limiting the end position of the screw flight in relation to the position of the feeding opening in the heating cylinder. The screw is rotationally and movably provided in the heating cylinder having a nozzle at a tip end. Granular metals fed from a feeding opening at the rear of the heating cylinder are transferred forward by the screw rotation and melted. Melted metals are injected from the nozzle by forward movement of the screw. A rear end of the screw flight is positioned below the rear edge of the feeding opening at the rearmost position of the screw. At the foremost position of the screw, the rear end is positioned in front of the feeding opening to close the feeding opening by the rear portion of the axial portion of the screw axis.

Injection molding screw for metals

An injection apparatus for transferring melted metals is capable of metering and degassing the melted metal in a reservoir to reserve metals in the liquid phase for injection. The injection apparatus includes a heating cylinder having a metering chamber. An injection screw is movably and rotationally installed within the heating cylinder. A tip end of the injection screw forms a plunger insertable into the metering chamber with a clearance for sliding. The reservoir includes an axial portion free of screw flights between the plunger and a feeding portion that has a screw flight around its axis. A projected portion for limiting the feeding of granular metals flowing to the reservoir and for preventing the metals in liquid phase from flowing backward during injection is provided on a boundary between the feeding portion and the reservoir.
