A wiper apparatus includes an arm shank pivotably supported at its proximal end portion on a vehicle and an arm piece mounted at its proximal end portion to a distal end portion of the arm shank and having a wiper blade attached to the other end portion remote from the distal end portion of the arm shank. The wiper apparatus also includes an arm piece cover covering the arm piece having an outer peripheral surface flush with an outer peripheral surface of the distal end portion of the arm shank.

A wiper device includes a link member to which a driving force from a wiper motor is transmitted; a pivot shaft which has serrated portions formed at both ends thereof being secured to the link member at one end thereof; a lever portion which is secured to the other end of the pivot shaft; a wiper arm which is connected to an end of the lever portion divided from an axis of the pivot shaft; a link securing hole portion which is formed in the link member to which the one serrated portion being secured; and a lever securing hole portion which is formed in the lever portion to which the other serrated portion being secured.

In a structure in which a middle portion of a wiper blade is pivoted to a leading end portion of a wiper arm via a pivot substantially orthogonal to an arm length direction so as to freely oscillate, and a supporting member supporting a portion closer to a wiper shaft than the middle portion of the wiper blade is provided in the wiper arm, the structure reduces a sliding resistance which occurs due to a movement of the wiper blade toward and away from a window surface. A stabilizer has an upper piece portion and a pair of side piece portions, a supporting concave portion supporting a wiper blade in an outward fitting manner is formed, and a plurality of ribs which extend toward the window surface are formed on inner surfaces of the side piece portions, thereby being in linear contact with outer surfaces of side piece portions of a support receiving body which is fitted to a first lever terminal end portion of the wiper blade.

An external mirror includes an indicator light and a case with a protruding portion whose outer face is arranged more outside than an outer face of the indicator light. Even when the external mirror hits or bumps against an obstacle, the protruding portion is the first and likely only portion which hits or bumps against the obstacle thereby preventing the indicator light from being damaged. Therefore, the indicator light will have to be replaced less frequently, thereby reducing a burden on the user. Typically, the protruding portion is provided below the indicator light. Accordingly, the indicator light can be strongly protected with respect to the contact from a lower side of the external mirror, where there are generally a relatively large number/percentage of obstacles. Preferably, the indicator light has a convex surface lens which protrudes toward outside of the external mirror. Preferably, the protruding portion has a ridge line between an upper face and a lower face of the protruding portion.

A wiper apparatus for a vehicle capable of absorbing impact applied from outside. The wiper apparatus has a rocking wiper arm and a wiper blade attached to a tip end of the wiper arm for wiping a windshield, a pivot fixed to a base end of the wiper arm, and a pivot holder attached to a car-body panel, pivotally supporting the pivot and movable toward inside of a car-body by a load applied from outside of the vehicle substantially in an axial direction of the pivot. Alternatively, a load absorbing member may be provided outside of a section of the wiper arm where the pivot is fixed.

Wiper apparatus for vehicle

A windshield wiper device for a vehicle, for wiping the windshield of the vehicle, comprises at least one windshield wiping unit. The windshield wiping unit comprises a pivot holder attached to the body of the vehicle and having a cylindrical bearing part, a pivot shaft extended through and supported for turning in the bearing part on the pivot holder, a wiper arm having a base end part fixed to an outer end part of the pivot shaft, and a wiper blade assembly having a wiper blade and connected to the free end of the wiper arm. The pivot shaft is restrained from axial movement into the bearing part of the pivot holder by a retaining ring put there on and seated on an outer end surface of the bearing part of the pivot holder. The retaining is fractured or deformed to permit the pivot shaft to move axially into the bearing part when an axial force exceeding a predetermined level is exerted on the pivot shaft.
