An image recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and reproducing a multiple picture signal obtained by multiplexing picture signals from a plurality of cameras via a frame switcher, the image recording and reproducing apparatus performing high-accuracy fast-forwarding of a prerecorded image from a specific camera and allowing easy retrieval of a target image. The image recording and reproducing apparatus has a skip reproduction feature for alternating skipping of n frames and continuous reproduction of m frames. m is set to a number related to the frame switching pattern. Image recording and selective reproducing apparatus

Monitor camera units, a data storing unit, a control server, and a monitor display are coupled by a network. The monitor camera unit includes a motion detector for detecting motion from video data, a microphone, a traffic monitor, a memory for storing the video data, and a sensor signal input circuit. The traffic monitor monitors the traffic of the network. If the traffic is high, only necessary data or sound data is transmitted. The memory stores the video data in response to the motion detector and a thinning circuit thins the video data from the memory in response to a sensor signal. The control server receives the alarm data from the monitor camera and further receives the alarm type data, time data, position data of a pivoting unit for pivoting the camera unit and transmits the data to the display terminal. In the presence of a loud sound, alarm data is also generated but it is not sent if a switch is OFF. The control server includes a data base storing set of alarm data. If an operator judges one set of alarm data is an error, the set of data is not erased but mark data is correspondingly stored to inhibit searching the set of data. During the night, the exposure and transmitting intervals are increased to prevent the same data from being transmitted twice.

Network surveillance video camera system

When a video input (image data) sequentially fetched from a monitor camera is to be stored in data storage means, frame rate calculating means calculates a frame rate for storage of the image data by using a picture recording time mode, a residual capacity of the data storage means, the presence of generation of an alarm signal and a value of a picture quality parameter for data compression. The frame rate calculating means thins a video signal which does not correspond to the frame rate so as not to be stored in the data storage means. Consequently, image data for a predetermined time are stored in the data storage means.

Video recording apparatus and monitoring apparatus

In a network surveillance unit, a video input unit inputs image information output from a video output device such as a camera or a switcher. A coded image storage unit codes and accumulates the image information. An alarm management unit detects the presence or absence of alarm generation from an alarm generating device, and stores the alarm information. A communication unit receives a request from a display terminal through a network, and transmits the coded image accumulated in the coded image storage unit or the alarm information accumulated in the alarm management unit according to the request.

A multimedia information distributing system for accumulating multimedia title data to supply title data in accordance with a demand from a client. The multimedia information distributing system is composed of clients and a server which are in communicable relation to each other. Each client includes a material and scenario storage information converting section having a conversion rule between an environment depending upon the client and an internal environment of a title server to convert material position information into a format agreeing with each environment. The client transmits material storage information and a title comprising materials and scenario to the server. The server registers the transmitted title through the use of the material storage information made in advance in the client to agree with the server environment. With this arrangement, it is possible to create, register and reproduce the same title between clients different in expression of the material storage information from each other.
