A tapered roller bearing () is includes an outer ring () having an outer ring raceway surface () on the inner peripheral surface thereof, an inner ring () having an inner ring raceway surface () on the outer peripheral surface thereof, and a plurality of tapered rollers () arranged in a rollable manner between the outer ring raceway surface () and the inner ring raceway surface (). A large flange () is formed on an end portion of the inner ring () on a large-diameter side of the inner ring, and the inner ring raceway surface () continuously extends to the end face () of the inner ring () on a small-diameter side of the inner ring. The contact angle (&#x3b1;) is 37&#xb0;30' to 50&#xb0;. In this manner, the tapered roller bearing having high moment rigidity and long life can be provided.

Provided is a resin cage for a tapered roller bearing in which a mold parting line which is extended in an axial direction is formed in a pillar portion defining a pocket. On facing surfaces of adjacent pillar portions, on an outer diameter side from the mold parting line, a first conical surface which slides in contact with an outer peripheral surface of a tapered roller is formed, and a first flat surface in a radial direction is formed in a portion on the outer diameter side from the first conical surface. A preload measuring device for a double row rolling bearing unit includes an outer bearing ring member having double rows of outer ring raceways on an inner circumferential surface, an inner bearing ring member having double rows of inner ring raceways on an outer circumferential surface, rolling elements rollably arranged between the outer ring raceways and the inner ring raceways in each of the rows such that contact angles given to the respective rows are opposite to one another, axial displacement measuring means for obtaining an axial relative displacement between the outer bearing ring member and the inner bearing ring member, inclination angle measuring means for obtaining an inclination angle between center axes of the outer bearing ring member and the inner bearing ring member, and preload calculating means for obtaining a preload applied to the rolling elements based on the inclination angle and the axial relative displacement.

One of the embodiments comprises a sensor detecting conditions of the rolling bearing, a ring-shaped sensor cover housing the sensor therein and secured to a stationary-side bearing ring, and a ring shaped presser member secured to a bearing housing provided outside in a radius direction of the sensor cover, or secured to a shaft, and an opening portion is provided at a decided portion of the sensor cover, and projections standing toward a side of the presser member are furnished in the circumference of the opening portion, the presser member is defined with cutouts for inserting the projections, and the cutouts are arranged with the projections.

In the ball bearing, the ratio of the radius of curvature of an inner race raceway to the outside diameter of balls is set in the range of 0.51 to 0.54. Also, the ratio of the radius of curvature of an outer race raceway to the outside diameter of balls is set in the range of 0.54 to 0.56.
