Embodiments disclosed herein relate to systems and methods for securing a drug delivery component to an intraocular lens (IOL) assembly. The systems generally include a support base and a plunger. The support base includes a first portion configured to accommodate a drug delivery component; and a second portion configured to act as a plunger guide. The plunger can be inserted into the plunger guide such that the plunger is positioned to interface with a drug delivery component and an IOL assembly during use. The plunger includes an elongated body and a tip, wherein the tip can include a ramp configured to interface with a fixation loop of a drug delivery component during use and a compartment configured to interface with a haptic of an IOL assembly during use.

Systems to affix devices to intraocular lens assemblies and related methods

Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to an intraocular drug delivery system configured for implantation into an eye of a subject. The intraocular drug delivery system can include an intraocular lens (IOL) and a drug delivery component. The IOL includes an anterior side, a posterior side opposite the anterior side, a lens bordered by an edge and a haptic extending outwardly from the edge of the lens at a lens-haptic junction. The haptic includes, at the lens-haptic junction, a relief cut on the posterior side of the IOL. The drug delivery component includes a therapeutic agent and a fixation portion having an opening configured to receive the haptic therethrough. The fixation portion is configured to be secured to the relief cut of the haptic such that outward movement of the drug delivery component relative to the lens is inhibited.

Stabilized intraocular drug delivery systems and methods of use

Modular IOL systems including a base and a lens, wherein the lens includes fixed and actuatable tabs for connection to the base. The modular IOL allows for the lens to be adjusted or exchanged while leaving the base in place, either intra-operatively or post-operatively. Drug delivery capabilities and/or sensing capabilities may be incorporated into the base. Injector devices may be used to facilitate placement of the base and the lens sequentially or simultaneously into the eye.

Modular intraocular lens designs, tools and methods

Embodiments of the instant disclosure relate to intraocular drug delivery devices for and methods of, delivering at least one therapeutic agent to an eye of a subject. Methods include implanting an intraocular implant into the eye and adjacent to a fluid-permeable membrane of the eye of the patient. Intraocular implants are supported in a position at a surface of the fluid-permeable membrane. Intraocular implants include a drug delivery component having at least one therapeutic agent embedded within a non-bioerodible, non-biodegradable polymer matrix. Devices and methods disclosed herein can further include delivering the at least one therapeutic agent to the eye of the subject according to a near zero-order elution rate of the at least one therapeutic agent.

A dual-blade device can be used for cutting the trabecular meshwork ('TM') in the eye. The device tip provides entry into the Schlemm's canal via its size (i.e., for example, 0.2-0.3 mm width) and configuration where a ramp elevates the TM away from the outer wall of the Schlemm's canal and guides the TM to first and second lateral elements for creating first and second incisions through the TM. An ophthalmic device including a cannula having a cannula distal end, a lumen, and one or more orifices coupled to the lumen is provided. The cannula is configured to deliver a fluid. A sleeve is disposed around the cannula and has a sleeve distal end. A handle is coupled to the sleeve and the cannula, the handle having an actuator. An internal mechanism is coupled to the actuator and configured to retract the sleeve relative to the cannula. The internal mechanism includes a follower fixedly coupled to the sleeve and moveable between distal and proximal positions, and a release member movable between an activated position and a release position. The release member is coupled to the actuator and configured to release a force that urges the follower from the distal position to the proximal position when the release member moves from the activated position to the release position.

Ophthalmic device

A lacrimal drug delivery device includes a reservoir configured to hold a drug. The reservoir is moveable between a relaxed state and an expanded state. A connector is fluidly coupled to the reservoir and a lumen is formed in the connector wherein the drug is configured to flow from the reservoir to an delivery site through the lumen. A hydrogel is within the lumen and configured to absorb the drug from the reservoir and deliver the drug from the lumen at the delivery site. The hydrogel includes a first section which absorbs the drug at a first rate of absorption. A delivery guide is detachably coupled to the reservoir to deliver the reservoir into a lacrimal sac of a patient.

Lacrimal drug delivery device

An ophthalmic device including a cannula having a cannula distal end, a lumen, and one or more orifices coupled to the lumen is provided. The cannula is configured to deliver a fluid. A sleeve is disposed around the cannula and has a sleeve distal end. A handle is coupled to the sleeve and the cannula, the handle having an actuator. An internal mechanism is coupled to the actuator and is configured to pump the fluid. The internal mechanism includes an inlet port disposed on a handle proximal end, a drive member coupled to the actuator and a plunger coupled to the drive member. The ophthalmic device is configured to retain a volume of fluid and to be prevented from being re-primed after a predetermined number of actuator presses, wherein the retained volume of fluid is dispensed over an additional number of actuator pushes.

An extraction device can include a delivery shaft having a lumen and a distal end, a first wire forming a first arc and being positionable distal to the distal end of the delivery shaft while ends of the first arc are at a distalmost end of the delivery shaft, and a second wire forming a second arc and being positionable distal to the distal end of the delivery shaft while ends of the second arc are at the distalmost end of the delivery shaft. A distalmost extent of the first wire is distal to a distalmost extent of the second wire. The first wire and the second wire are separately retractable relative to the delivery shaft.
