One embodiment of the present subject matter includes a battery mounted to a vehicle, with a charge state circuit located in the electric vehicle and coupled to the battery, the charge state circuit configured to provide a charge state signal indicative of the charge state of the battery. The embodiment includes a charging coupler port located proximate to a user accessible exterior of the electrical vehicle and coupled to the battery, the charging coupler port to conduct charging energy to the battery and to provide a charger connection signal indicative of a connection to an external power source. The embodiment also includes a lighting circuit coupled to the charging coupler port and the charge state circuit to control the brightness and color of an illuminated indicator responsive to the charge state signal and the charger connection signal.

A method and system integrates personal computer components to in an efficient manner that accommodates footprint and EMI demands. A base structure supports a flat panel display and enhances the stability of the display by placing the personal computer on the base structure. A support housing provides an attachment point for the display and also forms a cable cavity to enhance cable management for cables that interface external components with the personal computer. The personal computer has an inner casing with a mother board segment coupled in a hinged manner to a housing segment. The inner casing opens along the hinge to allow access to internal personal computer components, and closes during operation of the personal computer to meet EMI specifications. An outer casing encases the inner casing to enhance integration of the personal computer with other system components, such as by having a shape that conforms to the shape of a recess formed in the base structure. A CDROM drive support assembly attaches to the upper part of the inner casing and includes a support tongue that moves in cooperation with a CDROM drive door to minimize the risk of damage to the door. An interposer assembly communicates commands from the outer casing to the CDROM drive door to allow opening a closing of the door.

Tilt and swivel adjustment of a flat panel display including detents for landscape and portrait positions and a kickout feature for preventing contact between the flat panel display and its base. A stand for the display includes a neck member coupled to the base member and a riser member which is slidable with respect to the neck member. The display is mounted to an upper portion of the riser member via a swivel apparatus which allows a user to pivot the display between landscape and portrait orientations. The swivel apparatus includes a cam and corresponding ramp. When the display is pivoted between the portrait and landscape orientations, the cam and ramp cause the display to be tilted with respect to the stand such that a lower portion of the display is tilted away from the base member, thereby preventing contact therebetween. The swivel apparatus includes a bearing member which is mounted between the display and a portion of the swivel apparatus which is pivotable with respect to the display. The bearing member includes a bearing surface providing a wear-resistant and smooth frictional pivot coupling. The bearing member also includes one or more integrally formed projections, each of which mates with a first corresponding receptacle when the display is in the portrait orientation and with a second corresponding receptacle when the display is the landscape orientation. Thus, the bearing member provides both a bearing surface and detents.
