A surgical stapler for implanting and clinching staples in the body of a patient employs a reciprocally movable, retractable anvil and a reciprocally movable former for forming a staple about the end of the retractable anvil. A toggle is mounted in a stapler trigger which simultaneously actuates the former and toggle. The toggle removes the anvil end into and out of the path of the former whereby desired release of a formed staple from the anvil is assured following clinching of the staple ends.

There is disclosed a night vision imaging system for mounting on a helmet. The helmet contains a visor having a slot into which is inserted a helmet mount assembly which can be vertically adjusted within the slot by means of a control mechanism including a rotatable knob. The mount assembly is an arcuate planar member conforming to the surface of the helmet and contains two 'U' shaped receptacles for receiving two pivots located on a central fork support frame. The fork frame has two adjacent tines which are secured within two slots contained in a gear box. Coupled to the gear box are right and left carriage assemblies which interface with the gear box by means of a first threaded shaft to afford eye relief adjustment and a second rod assembly to afford tilt adjustment. Each carriage assembly is symmetrically positioned on the right and left sides of the gear box assembly and are coupled to a first and a second unity power image intensifier telescope housing containing an image intensifier tube. The carriage assembly is coupled to the tube housing to move in a horizontal plane for eye relief by contacting either a right or left knob coupled to the threaded shaft at right and left sides. The gear box, carriage assemblies, and intensifier housing as supported by the fork frame, can be 'flipped-up' and away from the eyes of a user when the night vision system is not in use or can be 'flipped-down' in front of the user's eyes when in use.

Night vision imaging system adapted for helmet mounting

A wound closure tape applicator has an elongated trapeziform casing partitioned into a front supply chamber for a roll of adhesive tape carried on a backing strip or liner and a trapeziform rear storage chamber for collecting waste backing strip. Front and bottom walls of the casing form a tape outlet slot in a lower front corner of the supply chamber. A cylindrical post extending horizontally between the casing sidewalls internally adjacent the slot guides the tape downwardly along the front wall. A front end portion of the bottom wall projects upwardly close to the underside of the post and guides the liner rearwardly to peel it away from the tape as the latter is pulled downwardly through the opening. A false bottom wall in the casing guides the liner rearwardly along the bottom wall beneath the partition into the rear chamber. The front wall includes a brake flap which is resiliently deflectable to press the tape against the post to separate an applied segment of the tape from the roll along the perforations and to control tension in the tape being applied. The tape but not the liner is perforated and notched at regular intervals along its length. The tape is preset or 'aged' in roll form so that when the waste liner is fed into the storage chamber it will coil without regard to the shape of the chamber.

Mobile sample display case

A sample case assembly has a pair of open ended containers each of which is supported by one section of a two-section wheeled base member or dolly. The dolly sections are pivotally joined together and with their respective display enclosures are pivoted horizontally between open and closed positions. The containers may be hinged together on one side to form sample cases and detachably connected to the dolly. A plurality of sample cases may be stacked one above the other on the dolly and aligned to pivot open simultaneously with opening of the dolly sections. A transport handle is attached to the uppermost case to facilitate mobility of the assembly.

Apparatus for displaying articles is provided with a generally planar display surface having a pair of opposed parallel edge portions formed with spaced apart recesses. Each end of the article to be displayed is retained by a detachable clasp assembly which is adapted for releaseable retention within one of the edge portion recesses.

In order to transport a heavy ladder to a work site, a caddy is provided in the form of a pair of transverse pieces having resilient clips installed thereon adapted to engage and clamp onto any rung of the ladder. The pieces are attached at spaced positions to the bridge of a two-wheeled carriage so that the pieces are adapted to straddle and engage a pair of adjacent rungs on the ladder in wheel-barrow position.

A portable, light-weight, multi-section step ladder for scaling poles and formed by a main or top section followed by a train of extension sections. Each section includes a single vertical spar and a series of steps secured thereto. The upper end of the main section is provided with an open-loop assembly adapted to engage the pole and to harness this section to the pole when a downward force is exerted thereon, the lower end of the main section terminating in a coupling head. Each extension section is provided at its upper end with a latching piece adapted to engage a coupling head and at its lower end with a coupling head, whereby the main section and the extension sections may readily be interlinked to form a ladder whose length is sufficient to scale the pole.

Aid devices to facilitate the transport and raising of heavy ladders. To raise or lower the ladder, a lifter is provided in the form of a long pole having a transverse piece attached to one end thereof, the length of the piece being almost equal to the distance between the sidepieces of the ladder. Secured to the ends of the piece are resilient clips adapted to engage and clamp onto any rung of the ladder to be raised. In order to transport the ladder to a work site, a caddy is provided in the form of a pair of transverse pieces having clips installed thereon, the pieces being attached at spaced positions to the bridge of a two-wheeled carriage so that the pieces are adapted to straddle and engage a pair of adjacent rungs on the ladder in wheel-barrow position.

Ladder aids

Disclosed is a swivel mounting structure for a video-telephone unit. The mounting structure allows the unit to be readily rotated and inclined or be moved with a combination of both movements. The structure will maintain the unit in the position to which it is set by either the friction provided by mechanical locking members or by having the center of gravity of the unit positioned above the center of a pair of spaced rocker members riding within a cylindrical opening.
