A drainable ostomy pouch has an outlet. Reinforcing members at the outlet are deformable by application of manual pressure at their ends to distend the outlet. The lateral edges of the reinforcing members may be offset, which encourages the reinforcing members to consistently bend away from each other. A peelable distributed mechanical engagement fastener secures the outlet in a folded condition. The fastener parts are hook-hook type plastic extrusions, and provide a snap-engagement. A security flap is foldable under the outlet when in its folded condition. The outlet is released in two stages.

A pouch includes a front wall ( ), a rear wall ( ) having an entrance aperture ( ), and a central partition ( ). The partition divides the pouch into an entrance chamber ( ) and a collection chamber ( ) located one in front of the other. A urine collection device, a band for retaining the device and a method for attaching a medical device to the wearer's body. A band has two tabs. Each tab has one end attached to the band and a free end for extending through a hole in the device and attaching to the band. The band with the device mounted to it can be retained on the wearer's body.

A tap (14) for a drainage bag (10) is provided which can be welded to the bag material with the tap in a ready-assembled condition. The tap includes an integral attachment portion (20) and a housing (18). An L-shaped tubular tap member (16) with a handle (30) is inserted in an aperture of the housing (18), and is rotatable in the aperture between a closed position in which the outlet (22) points upwardly, and an open position in which the outlet (22) points downwardly. In the closed position, a peripheral region (54) of the attachment portion (20) projects beyond the tap member (16) on all sides, to enable the assembled tap to be welded to the bag material.

An aim of the invention is to provide a simple and effective one-piece tap which can be readily and economically manufactured. A tap for a liquid container is made from natural or synthetic rubber or a resilient plastics material. It has a base portion 10 having an orifice 12 which serves as a liquid inlet therein, the base portion embodying a liquid exit means 14. It also has a resilient deformable closure portion 20, the closure portion being constructed to make a resilient snap-on connection with the periphery of the base portion, the closure portion being manipulatable and having a centrally located plug 22 extending towards the base portion. This plug can obturate orifice 12 thereby closing the liquid inlet. The closure portion 20 also has a projecting portion 23 extending generally perpendicularly away from the base portion, the projecting portion being constructed so that it can be pushed towards the base portion in order to remove the plug from the orifice and so permit liquid to pass to the liquid exit means 14.
