The invention provides an infra-red target detection system in which an array of infra-red detectors is scanned vertically in swathes and horizontal scanning is effected by sampling the output of each detector in turn. Addresses of target detections in the vertical and horizontal are stored and read out into an X and Y co-ordinate target position store if a detection resulting from scanning in the vertical corresponds to a detection resulting from scanning in the horizontal.

Optical target detection systems

The invention provides an improved clutter filter for a Pulse Doppler Radar utilizing rapidly changing p.r.f.'s. The filter is designed to reduce the effect of spectrum spreading which has previously caused difficulties.

Clutter filter for Pulse Doppler Radar

A pulse Doppler radar utilizes a rapidly switched pulse repetition frequency, and is provided with a pulse integrator arranged to commutate at the prevailing pulse repetition frequency. By this means ambiguities in the Doppler frequency shift relating to range can be removed.
