The present application pertains to dispersions comprising oxidized, discrete carbon nanotubes and high-surface area carbon nanotubes. The oxidized, discrete carbon nanotubes comprise an interior and exterior surface, each surface comprising an interior surface oxidized species content and an exterior surface oxidized species content. The interior surface oxidized species content differs from the exterior surface oxidized species content by at least 20%, and as high as 100%. The high-surface area nanotubes are generally single-wall nanotubes. The BET surface area of the high-surface area nanotubes is from about 550 m/g to about 1500 m/g according to ASTM D6556-16. The aspect ratio is at least about 500 up to about 6000. The dispersions comprise from about 0.1 to about 30% by weight nanotubes based on the total weight of the dispersion.

High-surface area carbon nanotubes having targeted, or selective, species of oxygen containing species levels, types and/or content on either or both of the interior and exterior of the tube walls are claimed. Such carbon nanotubes can have little to none inner tube surface oxygen containing species, or differing amounts and/or types of oxygen containing species between the tubes' inner and outer surfaces or amongst the carbon nanotubes. Additionally, such high-surface area carbon nanotubes or their assemblages may have greater lengths and diameters, creating useful mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties.

Modifying agents, e.g., a poly(sulfonyl) azide, are attached to a substrate surface, e.g., the surface of a polyolefin particle, by a process comprising the steps of: A. Contacting in an open contact zone and under a flow of inert gas a substrate with a modifying agent, binding agent, e.g., a phenolic-based antioxidant, and a liquid mixing agent, e.g., methylene chloride, to form a substrate mixture; B. Closing the contact zone and stopping the flow of inert gas to the contact zone; C. Agitating the substrate mixture under the inert gas in the closed contact zone to commence evaporation of the liquid mixing agent; D. Reducing the temperature and pressure of the closed contact zone while continuing to agitate the substrate mixture; and E. Completing the substantial evaporation of the mixing agent from the substrate mixture by opening the contact zone and initiating an inert gas flow while continuing agitation of the substrate mixture and maintaining a reduced pressure.

Process for attaching a modifying agent to a substrate

The present disclosure is directed to polymeric compositions which form gloss resins suitable for thermoforming applications. The polymeric compositions include a reaction product composed of a clarified random propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer, a coupling agent, and optionally an elastomer. Methods for adjusting the melt flow rate of the gloss resin are also disclosed. Adjustment of the gloss resin melt flow rate advantageously enables scrap thermoplastic material containing the gloss resin to be recycled in a thermoforming operation.

The instant invention is a polypropylene composition, a method of producing the same, and articles made therefrom. The polypropylene composition according to instant invention includes the reactive melt blending product of a high crystalline polypropylene having a crystallinity of at least 64 percent, an elastomer, a coupling agent, and optionally a filler. The invention also includes a method for making the molecular melt composition and a method for using the molecular melt to produce coupled polymers.
