A keyboard of an information handling system includes keyboard (RF) transmitter/receiver that provides range information for a mobile device paired to the keyboard RF transmitter/receiver. A keyboard controller is coupled to the keyboard RF transmitter/receiver and is responsive to the range information indicating the mobile device is out of range to disable key input data of the keyboard. After the key input data is disabled, the keyboard controller enables the key input data responsive to the range information indicating the mobile device has come back into range. The keyboard RF transmitter/receiver communicates with a host RF transmitter/receiver over a first RF channel and communicates with the mobile device over a second RF channel. The keyboard controller enables the key input data responsive to a successful override of the keyboard input data being disabled. The override is a predetermined key sequence and/or a valid finger print.

Various embodiments of the invention may receive information related to a plurality of application upgrades from an application monitoring agent. Based on the received information, a device emulation will be requested, and an emulation will be performed in response to generate an application upgrade strategy that includes such things as emulated (e.g., predicted) upgrade times. The application upgrade strategy is used to produce a more refined upgrade strategy. The various embodiments refine the upgrade strategy by specifically consider the power consumption and cost for the power that is consumed.

Method for efficient energy conservation on system upgrade/update

External display devices can be dynamically configured. An adaptive display engine may be configured to receive requests from agents executing an users' client computing devices when the users connect their client computing devices to external display devices. Such a request may indicate that one or more external display devices have been connected to a client computing device and may identify the display configuration for the one or more external display devices and an internal display device. The adaptive display engine can dynamically determine recommended settings based on the specified display configuration and return the recommended settings to the agent. The agent can then automatically apply the recommended settings on the client computing device.

A method for managing a display of an information handling system includes: monitoring, by a display controller, a usage period of the display indicating a period of time in which the display is in an illuminated state; determining, by the display controller, that the usage period is greater than a threshold usage period; causing, by the display controller, a brightness level of the display to decrease; sending, by the display controller, a signal to a graphics processing unit; receiving, by the graphics processing unit, the signal; determining, by the graphics processing unit, a contrast level associated with one or more images presented to a user; determining, by the graphics processing unit, a gamma level associated with the one or more images; and processing, by the graphics processing unit, the one or more images based on the contrast level and the gamma level.

Managing a display of an information handling system

Various embodiments of the invention are related to a method of performing upgrades to a computing system. After an initial upgrade strategy is produced by a device emulation system, one or more embodiments of the invention may continue to refine the upgrade strategy if changes occur to key aspects of the system, before the upgrade is performed and/or completed. These key aspects or key identifiers of the system are monitored throughout the upgrade process and are used to refine the upgrade strategy.

Performing, at a first time, a calibration and configuration of a display magnification management model, including: identifying contextual data associated with contextual inputs of a user including a blink rate and a distance between the user and the display device; identifying display settings of the GUI; training, based on the contextual data and the display settings, the display magnification management model, including generating a configuration policy including configuration rules for performing computer-implemented actions to automatically adjust the magnification level of the GUI; performing, at a second time, a steady-state management of the magnification level of the GUI, including: monitoring the contextual inputs of the of the user, in response, i) accessing the display magnification management model, ii) identifying configuration rules based on the display settings and the monitored contextual inputs, and iii) applying the configuration rules to perform computer-implemented actions to automatically adjust the magnification level of the GUI.
