A detection device is provided on a ship and detects a predetermined range positioned in front of the ship, the detection device being provided on a structure erected above a deck of the ship and being provided on a part positioned on a side of a bow of the structure.

Detection device

A system, adapted for a boat to accumulate and utilize information of a port, the system including a control unit having a processor configured to function as a determining part that determines an open berth of the port; and a display part that displays the open berth determined by the determining part on a display. The control unit determines the open berth based on a first data and a second data, the first data includes information of the port obtained at a first timing by a sensor disposed on the boat, the second data includes information of the port obtained at a second timing, wherein the first timing is different from the second timing, and the first timing is a present time.

Accumulating and utilizing port information by sensor recognition

A shift mechanism of an outboard motor has an electric actuator having a movable rod, and a guide structure for guiding a linear motion of a sliding body connected to the movable rod. In addition, the shift mechanism includes a link rod connected to the sliding body and bent to extend in a direction different from the direction of the linear motion of the sliding body. Furthermore, the shift mechanism includes a shift shaft part which is connected to the link rod, performs a rotational motion on the basis of a displacement of the link rod, and switches a range of a transmission mechanism provided below on the basis of the rotational motion.

Shift mechanism of outboard motor, and mount structure of shift mechanism

An outboard motor is provided with: an engine cover in which a first outside air inlet port, an exhaust port, and second outside air inlet ports are formed; and a lower housing that is disposed below the engine cover. The engine cover is provided with a front guide and a rear guide that guide outside air, introduced respectively from the first outside air inlet port and the second outside air inlet ports into the engine cover, downward in the gravity direction.

Outboard motor

A shift mechanism configuring an outboard motor comprises: an electric actuator that linearly moves a movable rod; and a shift shaft portion that switches from neutral to forward or reverse based on displacement of said movable rod. Moreover, a neutral adjusting mechanism enabling a neutral position of the shift mechanism to be adjusted is provided facing the shift shaft portion, by a separate body. The neutral adjusting mechanism, which comprises first and second adjusting arms that are supported in a freely rotating manner with respect to a frame and that have been biased in contrary directions to each other by elastic springing force of a coil spring, is provided in a manner that an adjusting screw mounted in the first adjusting arm capable of abutting on a shift arm always abuts on a contacting wall of the second adjusting arm capable of contacting a switch sensor.

Neutral adjusting mechanism of outboard motor

An outboard motor has an engine, an engine cover forming an engine compartment for holding the engine therein, a ventilation system with an outer outlet ventilation space through which air in the engine compartment flows to the outside of the engine compartment, and a generator. The ventilation system includes a case disposed in the engine compartment and forming an air discharge passage leading to the outer outlet ventilation space. A fan is placed in the air discharge passage to deliver air by pressure from the engine compartment to the outer outlet ventilation space. The air discharge passage has an inlet ventilation passage formed in an upper space in the engine compartment and opening upward. The engine compartment holding the engine therein can be efficiently ventilated, and ventilation air can effectively cool the engine and can effectively suppress temperature rise in the engine compartment.

An outboard motor has an internal combustion engine, an engine cover forming an engine compartment for holding the internal combustion engine therein, and a top cover covering the engine cover from above and provided with a carrying grip. An intermediate member is placed in a space between the engine cover and the top cover. First connecting parts for connecting the engine cover and the intermediate member are arranged in a space between the engine cover and the intermediate member, and second connecting parts for connecting the top cover and the intermediate cover are arranged in a space between the top cover and the intermediate cover. The connecting parts arranged in the spaces between the engine cover and the top cover ensure rigid connection, the degree of freedom of arranging the connecting parts is increased, and the engine cover can be manufactured at low cost.

An outboard motor S has an upstream intake silencer with an upstream expansion chamber, and a downstream intake silencer disposed under the upstream intake silencer. The upstream expansion chamber has a lower wall of a stepped shape including a raised part overlapping the downstream intake silencer in a plane and a lowered part without overlapping with the downstream intake silencer in a plane and at a level lower than that of the raised part. An upstream outlet passage of the upstream intake silencer is formed in the raised part. The downstream intake silencer has a stepped upper wall having a raised part, and a lowered part underlying the lower wall of the upstream expansion chamber in a plane and extending at a level lower than that of the raised part.

Pivot arm supported by a base is pivotable about an arm support shaft by being pulled via a throttle cable, and a throttle cam supported by the base via a cam support shaft and having a guide groove that has a guide section of the pivot arm movably therein. The arm support shaft and the cam support shaft are disposed in non-parallel relation to a valve shaft of the throttle valve and at such positions as not to overlap the throttle valve as viewed from a lateral side of the throttle valve drive mechanism.

Throttle valve drive mechanism of outboard engine unit

A seal member seals a gap between upper and lower cover members of an engine cover of an outboard motor. The seal member includes a supporting portion and a sealing portion integral with the supporting portion. The supporting portion has such a high spring modulus that the supporting portion is not plastically deformed with a load is applied to the supporting portion when the upper cover member is locked to the lower cover member. The sealing portion is hollow and has such a small spring modulus that the sealing portion can readily flex into close contact with the upper and lower cover members so as to provide an improved seal between the upper and lower cover members.

Seal member for engine cover of outboard motor

In an outboard engine unit, a cover assembly, defining a lower half section of an engine room, is composed of left and right cover members each formed of resin, and a bracket is fixed to a rear portion of the engine or engine support structure. The left and right cover members are fixed at their respective rear portions to the bracket. Centerline of an engine cylinder is offset from a centerline of the engine room toward one of left and right sides of the unit, and an ignition plug is provided on the other side opposite from the one side toward which the engine cylinder centerline is offset.

Outboard engine unit

An outboard motor having a grommet mounted on a lower cover is disclosed. The grommet is positioned outward from an area directly under a surface in which an upper cover and lower cover meet as viewed from above. A presser cover for pressing the upper half of the grommet expands in the lateral direction and has on the lower end portion a first concavity that opens in the downward direction and conforms to the external shape of the grommet.

An outboard motor steering control system operates at starting of the engine to compare the output of the steering wheel angle sensor which indicates the turned angle of the steering wheel and the output of the rotation angle sensor which indicates the rotation angle of the swivel shaft, determines whether there is a phase difference in steering angle therebetween, responds to any phase difference found by, at the time the boat operator turns the steering wheel, controlling the operation of the actuator connected to the swivel shaft so as to eliminate the difference, and further operates to inform the boat operator of the difference. Owing to this configuration, the difference can be eliminated without causing the boat operator to experience an unnatural feel.

Outboard motor steering control system

In an outboard motor control system having two outboard motors each mounted on a stern of a boat, there is provided a controller that controls operation of steering actuators to regulate steering angles of the outboard motors such that lines extending from axes of rotation of the propellers of the outboard motors intersect at a desired point. With this, it becomes possible to freely adjust the stream confluence point of the outboard motors, thereby improving boat driving stability and providing enhanced auto-spanker performance.

Outboard motor control system

An outboard motor steering system includes a hydraulic fluid supply mechanism connected to the steering hydraulic cylinder to supply hydraulic fluid thereto disposed in a space formed between the stern brackets and the swivel case. In other words, since the hydraulic fluid supply mechanism is incorporated into the outboard motor as a unit, the structure can be made simpler than that of the related art and the number of parts in the entire system can be reduced and moreover the work of installation into the boat's hull can be simplified. Also, operating efficiency is improved for an electric motor serving as the source of driving force for a hydraulic pump that supplies hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic cylinder used for steering, and power consumption is reduced.
