A smooth reproduced picture is produced at inverse playback, without losing of naturality of display. Picture output candidate frames are decided such that intervals between frame are uniform on a time axis at a normal playback. When the candidate frame exists in a group of pictures (GOP) preceding a GOP which is presently displayed and a number of frames in the GOP is unknown, a frame among one of a last or a second to last I or P coded frame in the GOP, which is nearer to a true picture output frame is decided as a picture output candidate frame.

Decoding device and method for deciding the next decoded frame based on the frame interval

A decoding apparatus comprises: decoding means which receives a first code sequence of a hierarchical structure as an input, decodes a code sequence of a selected first layer and higher layers in the first code sequence, outputs a detection signal when an error is detected while the code sequence is being decoded, and detects a second code sequence indicating the start of the first layer and higher layers in a set code sequence parsing position of the first sequence; and means for setting a code sequence parsing position which receives the detection signal and sets the parsing position of the code sequence in such a way that code sequence parsing performed by the decoding means is returned from a point at which code sequence parsing is being performed to a point at which code sequence parsing has been performed in the first code sequence.

Decoding apparatus and decoding method

A decoding method includes using a plurality of first bitstreams that are obtained by dividing a main bitstream with a hierarchical structure as inputs, successively arranging the plurality of first bitstreams and arranging selected second bitstreams before first hierarchical information of specified bitstreams among bitstreams constituting a specified hierarchy in the main bistream. Each second bitstream includes at least one of a plurality of codes including portions of the second bitstreams that do not corresond to specified code tables that are used for decoding bistreams, thereby forming a third bitstream.

Decoding method and apparatus using bitstreams and a hierarchical structure

A bus terminating circuit is provided on each of a plurality of SCSI devices connected to each other through an SCSI bus line. A first terminating resistor is inserted between each of the signal lines and a power source line of the bus line and a second terminating resistor is inserted between each of the signal lines and ground. A first transistor is connected between the first terminating resistor and the power source line and a second transistor is connected between the second terminating resistor and ground. The first and second transistors are turned-on or off in response to an ON signal or an OFF signal inputted from an external terminal so that the first and second resistors can be connected or disconnected to or from the bus line.
