The invention provides a novel oil thickener that can impart a thickening effect for oils used in cosmetics, and a novel oil-soluble copolymer that can be used as the thickener. The cosmetic oil thickener of the invention is an oil-soluble copolymer having a monomer unit composed of a hydrophilic monomer, a monomer unit composed of an easily-crystallizing hydrophobic monomer, and a monomer unit composed of a poorly-crystallizing hydrophobic monomer.

To provide a water-in-oil emulsified composition which highly encapsulates a water content, has high viscosity, and is excellent in emulsification stability. The water-in-oil emulsified composition of the present disclosure comprises a dispersion medium comprising an oil content, and an oil-soluble copolymer having a monomer unit obtained from a specific hydrophilic monomer, and a monomer unit obtained from a specific hydrophobic monomer; and water droplets dispersed in the dispersion medium, wherein the oil content contains 60% by mass or more of polar oil with an IOB of 0.10 or more, and wherein the water droplets contain water and a surfactant, and the content of the water is 30% by mass or more based on the total amount of the composition.

Water-in-oil emulsion composition

A method of preparing a fine oil-in-water emulsion comprising an oil phase based on silicone and/or hydrocarbon oils, in which the oil phase particles have an average particle size of 150 nm or less. The emulsion is stabilized by a carboxy-modified silicone in combination with a C16 to 22 higher alcohol; a nonionic surfactant having a POE chain and an HLB of 5 to 10; and a dihydric glycol. The emulsions can be prepared without the use of a high-pressure emulsifying apparatus.
