Filtering is performed on original waveform to remove components of a predetermined frequency band from the waveform, and dividing positions of the original waveform data are determined on the basis of envelope levels of the filtered waveform. The dividing positions may be determined on the basis of differentiation of an envelope of the filtered waveform. Rise positions in the original waveform data are detected, and one rise position may be selected from among one or more rise positions detected within a predetermined range of the original waveform and extracted as a dividing position of the original waveform. Presumed beat positions in the original waveform may be detected, and rise positions of the original waveform may be detected within predetermined ranges corresponding to the presumed beat positions. In parallel with reproduction of automatic performance, waveform data are stored in memory along with synchronization control data indicative of relationship in processing timing between the automatic performance and the waveform data.

Waveform data analysis method and apparatus suitable for waveform expansion/compression control

A waveform data processing apparatus includes a waveform data recording device which records waveform data representing waveform samples, and a waveform events track recording device which records, on a waveform events track defining a musical progression with respect to time, waveform event data representing events for employing waveform samples to constitute a musical performance as the alignment of the waveform samples. The waveform event data contains trigger signals at time points where respectively corresponding ones of the waveform samples are to be employed along the musical progression on the waveform events track. As the waveform events track is played back, the respective trigger signals serve to trigger the playback of the corresponding waveform samples to constitute a musical performance with such waveform samples. Each of the waveform samples represented by the waveform data defines a musical tone having a build-up point. The waveform data may be split at a build-up point to form waveform sub-samples, while the waveform event data will further contain trigger signals corresponding to the split sub-samples. Other than splitting, further editions are available such as deletion, insertion, copying and pasting of a part or parts of the waveform data.

Apparatus and method for processing waveform data to constitute musical performance data string

An acoustic signal producing apparatus wherein various musical effects are applied to a musical tone signal and an acoustic signal respectively produced at an internal tone generator and supplied from an external device such as a microphone, an electronic musical instrument or the like in such a manner that an applying state of the musical effects can be changed in accordance with various effect control parameters applied thereto.

In a music arrangement apparatus, a music data block provides a time-series of music data which contains at least a pitch component and which can be sequentially processed to produce a music performance. An arrangement data block provides a time-series of arrangement data in correspondence to the time-series of the music data. A modifying block modifies at least the pitch component of the music data according to the arrangement data so as to arrange at least a melody of the music performance. Further, a selecting block selects one or more of segments of the arrangement data, and a setting block sets the selected segment of the arrangement data.

Arrangement apparatus by modification of music data

An automatic performance apparatus that is responsive to a manual player of an input implement for producing either an arpeggio performance or a pattern performance in a modified form. Specifically, the present invention includes: a sequencer block that is responsive to manual play for generating a sequence of original note data representing either the arpeggio performance or the pattern performance; an input block to set control parameters; a play effector block to process the original note data according to the control parameters; a transposer block that shifts the altered note data by a predetermined interval to thereby generate shifted note data; a note effector block that generates additional note data in superposed relation to the shifted note data; a tone generator block that is receptive of the shifted note data and the additional note data for generating corresponding musical tones to thereby provide the modified form of either of the arpeggio performance and the pattern performance.

A music apparatus capable of adding various effects to musical sounds comprises: a processor; a waveform generator; and a program memory storing instructions for causing the processor to execute a musical sound generating process according to first performance information, the musical sound generating process comprising the steps of: (a) receiving the first performance information; (b) creating second performance information according to said received first performance information or third performance information formed by processing said created second performance information; (c) selectively repeating said creating step (b); (d) selectively designating said repeatedly creating step (c) to create fourth performance information different from the previously created performance information; and (e) generating musical sound according to the second, third or fourth performance information.

Music apparatus with various musical tone effects

There are provided a tone source for generating tone signals in plural channels independently and effect impartment sections, provided in corresponding relations to the channels, for imparting individual effects to the tone signals of the channels generated by the tone source. Each of the effect impartment sections, in accordance with tone control information unique to the tone signal of the corresponding channel, controls a parameter of the effect to be imparted. In a case where any of the effect impartment sections uses a signal delaying memory to impart an effect, when a damping (or truncating process) is performed in any of the channels, the storage area to be used for the channel is switched to another unused storage area so as to prevent any preceding tone's is delayed signal from being undesirably mixed into the signal of a new tone. In an application where a DSP is used to perform effect impartment, tone synthesis or the like, the size and position of a storage area for storing processed data are set variably to achieve efficient use of data memory. Further, a DSP program of different algorithms is automatically selected in accordance with performance information, to provide processing variety.

Tone effect imparting apparatus

It is determined which one of a plurality of predetermined attributes each component note of accompaniment pattern data belongs to, and there is generated information to control at least one tonal factor of the component note in accordance with the determined attribute. Thus, the accompaniment pattern data is controlled or modified for each of the component notes with the determined attributes. Also, for any of the component notes, of the accompaniment pattern data, corresponding to at least one given place in a relative tone pitch order, control information is set which controls at least one tonal factor such as tone pitch. Thus, the component note corresponding to the given place in the relative tone pitch order is controlled in accordance with the control information.

Effect data designating a desired sound effect is introduced from the outside, and a tone generator generates a tone imparted with an effect based on the introduced effect data. A conversion table is provided which classifies predetermined effects impartable by the tone generator into groups in accordance with characteristics of the effects and stores for each of the groups effect data indicative of effect belonging to the group. If it is ascertained, from the table, that the introduced effect data designates an effect not impartable by the tone generator, the effect data indicative of another effect belonging to one of the groups which corresponds to a characteristic of the introduced effect data is extracted from the table. The tone generator imparts the tone the effect designated by the extracted effect data in place of the introduced effect data. The tone color data may also be introduced from the outside, and if the tone color data designates a tone color not generatable by the tone generator, the tone color data may be converted to another designating another tone color generatable by the tone generator. At that time, it is determined whether a combination of converted sound effect and tone color falls under a predetermined inhibition condition and, if so, at least one of the effect and tone color data is converted again so that the combination does not fall under the inhibition condition any longer.
