An ultraviolet transmitting glass containing, in mole percentage based on oxides, 55 to 80% of SiO, 12 to 27% of BO, 4 to 20% of RO (where R represents an alkali metal selected from a group consisting of Li, Na, and K) in total, 0 to 3.5% of AlO, 0 to 5% of R'O (where R&#x2032; represents an alkaline earth metal selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba) in total, 0 to 5% of ZnO, and 0 to 10% of ZrO, wherein transmittance at a wavelength of 254 nm in terms of spectral transmittance at a plate thickness of 0.5 mm is 70% or more. The glass with high ultraviolet light transmittance, in particular, high deep ultraviolet light transmittance is provided.

Ultraviolet transmitting glass

It is an object of the present invention to provide near infrared cutoff filter glass having a high transmittance in a visible light range and a low transmittance in a near infrared light range and being excellent in the devitrification resistance, even though the concentration of Cu components in the glass is high for forming a thin plate. A near infrared cutoff filter glass, which comprises, as represented by cation percentage: P30 to 50%, Al5 to 20%, R20 to 40% (wherein Ris the total amount of Li+Na+K), R'5 to 30% (wherein R&#x2032;is the total amount of Mg+Ca+Sr+Ba+Zn), Cu3 to 15% and comprises, as represented by anion percentage: O30 to 90% and F10 to 70%, wherein (Li+Na+K)/(P+Al) is from 0.45 to 1.0, and (Sr+Ba+Cu)/(Al+Mg+Ca) is from 0.5 to 1.0.

Near infrared cutoff filter glass

A near-infrared cut filter glass includes: P, Al, R (R represents any one or more of Li, Na, and K), R' (R&#x2032; represents any one or more of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Zn), and Cu, and not including F practically, wherein (Cuamount/total Cu amount)&#xd7;100[%] is 0.01 to 7.0%. The filter glass may further include, by mol %, 0 to 10% BO. The filter glass may have a fracture toughness value of the near-infrared cut filter glass is 0.3 MPa&#xb7;mor more. For the filter glass, a quotient obtained by dividing an absorption constant at a wavelength of 430 nm by an absorption constant at a wavelength of 800 nm, of the near-infrared cut filter glass, may be 0.00001 to 0.19.

Near-infrared cut filter glass

To provide a near infrared cutoff filter glass which is excellent in optical properties such that the transmittance of light in the visible range is high and the transmittance of near infrared light is low. A near infrared cutoff filter glass comprising P, F, O, Cu and Ce, wherein by cation %, from 0.1 to 15% of Cuis contained, and the ratio of Cuto Ce(Cu/Ce) is from 3.5 to 15.

To provide a near infrared cutoff filter glass which is excellent in optical properties such that the transmittance of visible light is high, and the transmittance of near infrared light is low. A near infrared cutoff filter glass comprising components of P, F, Al, R (R is at least one member selected from Li, Na and K), R' (R&#x2032; is at least one member selected from Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Zn) and Cu, wherein (Cu/the total amount of Cu)&#xd7;100[%] is within a range of from 0.01 to 4.0%.

To provide a cover glass for light emitting diode package, which is capable of preventing deterioration in transmittance characteristics during use for a long period of time, and a light emitting device. The cover glass for light emitting diode package has a basic composition comprising, by mass % as calculated as oxides, from 55 to 80% of SiO, from 0.5 to 15% of AlO, from 5 to 25% of BO, from 0 to 7% of LiO, from 0 to 15% of NaO, from 0 to 10% of KO (provided LiO+NaO+KO=from 2 to 20%), from 0 to 0.1% of SnOand from 0.001 to 0.1% of FeO, it does not substantially contain AsO, SbOand PbO, and it has an average thermal expansion coefficient of from 45 to 70&#xd7;10/&#xb0; C. in a temperature range of from 0 to 300&#xb0; C.
