There is provided a pit initiation evaluation system or the like capable of predicting pit initiation effectively and at low cost. In a pit initiation evaluation system of an embodiment, a pit initiation evaluation unit creates and retains, based on a dry-wet alternate time data, a deposit impurity concentration data, and a pit initiation data on pitting corrosion initiated in each of a plurality of turbine stages when an operation is actually performed in the steam turbine, a pit initiation evaluation table presenting a relationship between a dry-wet alternate time, a deposit impurity concentration, and pit initiation. Further, the pit initiation evaluation unit is configured to evaluate, by using the pit initiation evaluation table, pitting corrosion to be initiated in each of the plurality of turbine stages in an operation planned for the steam turbine.

Disclosed herein is a magnetic tape unit having a magnetic head for reading and writing data from and onto a magnetic tape. The magnetic tape is traveled in contact with the magnetic head during a read/write operation of the magnetic head. During a rest period where the read/write operation of the magnetic head is not performed, a reciprocating motion of the magnetic tape by a small distance is performed with a predetermined period. A temperature in the vicinity of the magnetic head is detected by a temperature sensor. The predetermined period is changed according to the temperature detected by the temperature sensor. Accordingly, the adhesion of the magnetic tape to the magnetic head can be well prevented irrespective of the temperature inside the tape unit.

Magnetic tape unit

A magnetic tape unit with a magnetic head for reading and writing data from and onto a magnetic tape. The magnetic tape is kept in constant contact with the magnetic head, and a reel motor travels the magnetic tape kept in contact with the magnetic head. Adhesion of the magnetic tape to the magnetic head is prevented by slowly driving the reel motor to travel the magnetic tape at a speed lower than a normal traveling speed for a read/write operation of the magnetic head, during a rest period when the read/write operation of the magnetic head is not performed.

A flat flexible printed-circuit cable is-used in the drive to establish an electrical connection between a magnetic head of the unit and an amplifier printed-circuit board thereof, and includes a flexible plate having circuit patterns formed on the side faces thereof and connected to each other by through-holes formed therein, and connectors provided on the side faces of the plate and disposed at the ends thereof. The plate is symmetrically shaped with respect to a geometrical center thereof, and the connectors are symmetrically disposed thereto.

Magnetic tape drive for a single-reel type magnetic tape cartridge

A cartridge of a single reel is inserted and information is recorded and reproduced by a helical scan type using a rotary head. A control pulse is reproduced from a recording signal of a control track of a magnetic tape by a fixed head. A repositioning operation and a high speed search are controlled on the basis of the control pulse. A torque ripple of a capstan motor is previously measured. When the tape runs, a motor drive current is corrected so as to reduce a torque change of one rotation on the basis of the measurement result, thereby improving a wow and flutter. A switching timing of motor coils by Hall sensors is set to an early timing, thereby suppressing a torque fluctuation. A regenerative braking circuit is formed by an OFF timing of a PWM control and a tape back tension is formed by a decrease in torque by the regenerative braking circuit. A tape thread and a tape wrap at the time of the insertion of the cartridge are simultaneously executed.
