A resin part of a vehicular lamp and a method for producing such a part in which a metallic vapor deposition coating for forming a reflective surface is formed directly on a surface of a resin body part without applying an undercoating layer. The body of the resin part is produced by injecting molten resin into a cavity of a molding die in which a heat insulating layer is formed on a portion of the cavity surface corresponding to the reflective surface. A metallic vapor deposition coating is applied directly to the portions of the body of the resin part which were in contact with the heat insulating layer during injection molding.

Manufacturing method for resin part of vehicular lamp

A lens for use in a vehicular lamp, including a front section directed generally to the front, a curved section extending from the front section and changing direction to face laterally and seal legs projecting generally to the back from the peripheral edges. The seal leg in the curved section has a portion that extends inwardly to form an undercut in the direction in which the lens is removed from a lens shaping mold. The curved section is shaped from resin in at least two colors and the seal legs which at least form an undercut in the curved section are shaped from a resin having one of said at least two colors. Thus the lens can be shaped in a mold of a simplified structure.

Lens in vehicular lamp, method of shaping the lens and an apparatus for shaping the lens

There is provided an apparatus for manufacturing lenses for vehicle lamps, wherein the lenses are formed from at least first and second types of synthetic resins by molding the first and second synthetic resins integrally with each other. The apparatus includes a first mold having a common mold and a first stationary mold and defining a first cavity in which the first synthetic resin is injection molded, and a second mold constructed from the common mold and a second stationary mold and defining a second cavity in which the first synthetic resin and the second synthetic resin are molded integrally with each other with the first synthetic resin being contained within the second cavity. A partition wall is provided on the first stationary mold in such a manner as to protrude therefrom for preventing the first synthetic resin from intruding into any place other than the first cavity when the first mold is closed. Also, a distal end face of the partition wall is shaped such that the distal end face gradually tapers away from the common mold as the distal end face gets farther away from the first cavity.

Apparatus for manufacturing lenses for vehicle lamps

A vehicular lamp including a front lens formed by resin molding having a projecting part a thickness of which is larger than that of the other parts of the lens. A clearance lamp is integrally molded with a front lens including a side turn signal lens part projecting toward a front surface of the front lens. The side turn signal lens part projects like a tricornered roof inside which a light bulb for the side turn signal lamp is disposed closely adjacent to the lens. The thickness of the side turn signal lens part is made thicker than the other parts of the front lens.
