A display device having a number of display panels arranged in a plane to constitute a large picture image screen includes a correction-value determining means positioned in front of and apart from the display panels to observe the optical condition of the display panels so as to determine a part to be corrected in the display panels and a value to be corrected for the part, a correction signal generating means for generating a correction signal on the basis of the corrected value which is provided from the correction value determining means, correction circuits for the display panels, and a recorrection signal generating means which receives the correction signal from the correction signal generating means and transmits a recorrection signal to the correction circuit for one or more number of the display panels to be corrected.

A new type of display unit is provided. A light emitting body such as a fluorescent lamp is disposed behind an elongated display panel. The middle section of the fluorescent lamp extends parallel to the elongated display panel to face it from end to end. The opposite ends of the lamp are bent if necessary.

A display apparatus having a plurality of display units arranged contiguously so as to form mosaic patterns on the display apparatus by varying in the contents of display according to control signals given thereto. The display unit includes a fluorescent lamp, a display element, a fluorescent lamp stabilizer, a glow lamp for lighting the fluorescent lamp, and a case. All these components of the display unit are accommodated in the case, so that the display apparatus is formed in a compact construction and the electronic circuits of the display units are not disturbed by noises attributable to the current flowing through the cables connecting the fluorescent lamp stabilizers to the fluorescent lamps, respectively.

Disclosed herein is a large picture display device including a plurality of display units mounted to a support frame. The large picture display device comprises a push latch stopper mounted to the display unit, a push latch mounted to the support frame and adapted to mate with the push latch stopper, and a spring means provided on the support frame. With this arrangement, when the display unit is inserted into the support frame, the push latch stopper is engaged with the push latch to be locked, thereby permitting the display unit to be retained by the support frame. When the push latch is unlocked, the display unit is drawn because the spring means forwardly biases the display unit.
