A celestial object is automatically tracked and photographed. Azimuth information of the celestial object is obtained relative to a photographic apparatus. First-tracking drive control data for performing a first-tracking photographing operation is calculated based on the azimuth information. The photographing operation is performed during a predetermined exposure time based on the first-tracking drive control data. After the photographing operation finishes, a first image taken in the photographing operation is obtained upon lapse of a predetermined time, and a second image corresponding to an ending of images taken by the photographing operation is obtained. An amount of deviation between a celestial object image in the first image and a corresponding celestial object image in the second image is calculated. A judgement is made as to whether a second-tracking photographing operation is to be performed based on a comparison between the deviation amount and a predetermined threshold.

A method of automatically tracking and photographing celestial objects which captures a still image of a celestial object(s) where each celestial object appears stationary simply by making an exposure with a camera directed toward an arbitrary-selected celestial object and fixed with respect to the ground and without using an equatorial, and also a camera that employs this method. The method includes inputting latitude information at a photographic site, photographing azimuth angle information, photographing elevation angle information, attitude information of a photographic apparatus and focal length information of a photographing optical system; calculating movement amounts of the celestial object image relative to the photographic apparatus, for fixing the celestial object image with respect to the predetermined imaging area of an image pickup device, using all of the input information; and obtaining a photographic image by moving at least one of the predetermined imaging area and the celestial object image.

A method of automatically tracking and photographing a celestial object, is provided, which moves relative to a photographic apparatus due to diurnal motion so that the celestial object image formed on an image sensor becomes stationary during a celestial-object auto-tracking photographing operation. The method includes inputting photographing azimuth angle and elevation angle information of the photographic apparatus; calculating preliminary-tracking drive control data based on the photographing azimuth angle and elevation angle information; obtaining first and second preliminary images corresponding to commencement and termination points of the preliminary tracking operation; calculating a deviation amount between a celestial object image in the first preliminary image and a corresponding celestial object image in the second preliminary image; calculating, from the deviation amount, actual-tracking drive control data with the deviation amount cancelled; and performing the celestial-object auto-tracking photographing operation based on the actual-tracking drive control data.

A method of determining a direction of a triaxial electronic compass oriented in a specific direction by using the triaxial electronic compass and an inclination sensor, the method includes obtaining an elevation angle of the specific direction from the inclination sensor to switch a selection of two output values from the three output values to another selection of two output values therefrom; determining a geomagnetic aspect from the two output values; obtaining a rotational angle about an axis extending in the specific direction from the inclination sensor; calculating a deviation angle of the direction of the triaxial electronic compass which is caused by the selection switching, in accordance with the elevation angle, the geomagnetic aspect and the rotational angle; and correcting the direction of the triaxial electronic compass in accordance with the deviation angle.

A method of automatically tracking and photographing a celestial object so that the celestial object image, which is formed on an imaging surface of an image sensor via a photographing optical system, becomes stationary relative to a predetermined imaging area of the imaging surface of the image sensor during a tracking and photographing operation. The method includes performing a preliminary photographing operation at a predetermined preliminary-photographing exposure time with the photographic apparatus directed toward the celestial object and with a celestial-body auto tracking action suspended to obtain a preliminary image before automatically tracking and photographing the celestial object, calculating a moving direction and a moving speed of the celestial object image from the preliminary image that is obtained by the preliminary photographing operation, and automatically tracking and photographing the celestial object based on the moving direction and the moving speed of the celestial object image.

A motion reduced floating structure includes a main hull structure and a wave damping structure connected with the main hull structure. The wave damping structure may include a back board, a lower horizontal board and vertical members. The back board is connected with the main hull structure, and the lower horizontal board is connected with a lower portion of the back board to extend in a horizontal direction and is under a seawater surface in case of mooring. The present invention relates to a large floating structure used for a marine airport and the like and, more particularly, to a large floating structure in which the large floating structure itself has a wave absorbing function, whereby the need for a breakwater etc. is eliminated, and the installation of a separate wave absorbing structure at the outer periphery of the large floating structure is not needed, whereby an upper deck can be utilized effectively.
