Provided is a thermally stable bisphenol composition whose increase in the Hazen color number is suppressed even under higher temperature conditions. A bisphenol composition including an aryl alkyl sulfide or a dialkyl disulfide at 0.1 ppb by mass to 1% by mass with respect to a bisphenol. A bisphenol composition including an aryl alkyl sulfide or a dialkyl disulfide at a predetermined ratio is thermally stable in terms of the Hazen color number, and shows no coloring problem under high temperature conditions. By using such a bisphenol composition, a polycarbonate resin having an excellent color tone can be produced.

A generation control circuit outputs a generation control signal for controlling generation of a control voltage in the control voltage generation circuit based on the differential switching instruction signal. A valve control apparatus includes a variable mechanism configured to vary operating states of two intake valves by varying a swing range of a single swing cam; a primary swing arm configured to receive swinging force from the swing cam by becoming in contact with the swing cam, and configured to open/close one of the two intake valves; a secondary swing arm configured to open/close another of the two intake valves; and a connection changeover mechanism configured to connect/disconnect the primary swing arm with/from the secondary swing arm in accordance with an operating state of engine. The connection changeover mechanism disconnects the primary swing arm from the secondary swing arm to maintain the another of the two intake valves in a non-lifted state, when the variable mechanism controls a swing amount of the primary swing arm within a range below a predetermined amount. The connection changeover mechanism connects the primary swing arm with the secondary swing arm to open and close both of the two intake valves together, when the variable mechanism controls the swing amount of the primary swing arm within a range greater than or equal to the predetermined amount.

There is provided an actuator device for a variable valve apparatus. The variable valve apparatus has a control shaft to vary operation characteristics of an engine valve by an axial movement thereof. The actuator device has a rotatable screw shaft, a movable member axially movable with rotation of the screw shaft and a transmission mechanism unit that converts an axial movement of the movable member to the axial movement of the control shaft. An amount of the axial movement of the movable member is larger than an amount of the axial movement of the control shaft.
