An aluminum-magnesium alloy capable of suppressing molten metal oxidation even without adding Be, and an alloy plate of the aluminum magnesium alloy, are characterized by being obtained by adding 0.20 mass % or more of Cr and/or 0.002 mass % or more of Ca to an aluminum-magnesium alloy which contains 0.8-15 mass % Mg and, as an unavoidable impurity, 0.001 mass % or more of P.

Aluminum&#x2014;magnesium alloy and alloy plate thereof

The present invention provides an Al&#x2014;Mg series alloy sheet of high-Mg with improved press formability and homogeneity which can be applied to automobile outer panels and inner panels. This is an Al&#x2014;Mg series aluminum alloy sheet having 0.5 to 3 mm in thickness cast by twin-roll continuous casting and cold rolled, comprising over 8% but not more than 14% Mg, 1.0% or less Fe, and 0.5% or less Si with the remainder being Al and unavoidable impurities wherein the mean conductivity of the aluminum alloy sheet is in the range of at least 20 IACS % but less than 26 IACS %, the strength-ductility balance (tensile strength&#xd7;total elongation) as a material property of the aluminum alloy sheet is 11000 (MPa %) or more, and the homogeneity and press formability of the sheet have been improved.

Skin material of a clad material is composed of one or more layers, each layer of the skin materials is made of a metal different from the core material in their component compositions, and at least one layer of the skin material has a cast microstructure, when the skin material is superposed on either of one or both faces of the core material.

Method for manufacturing clad material and equipment for manufacturing the same

Equipment for manufacturing skin material of a clad material includes a casting apparatus which melts and mixes a metal for the skin material different from the core material in their component compositions, and casts the skin material; an ingot-cutting apparatus which cuts an ingot for skin material which is cast by the casting apparatus; and a conveying apparatus which conveys the ingot for skin material among each apparatus. The ingot-cutting apparatus is a slicing apparatus which slices the ingot for skin material into a predetermined thickness.

A twin-roll continuous casting method that controls occurrence of casting defects in a center part of plate thickness, for Al&#x2014;Mg series aluminum alloy, a material featuring a wide temperature range for solid and liquid phases coexistence. In the method of manufacturing an Al&#x2014;Mg series aluminum alloy cast plate, the plate contains Mg in a predetermined amount and has a relatively thick plate size, while casting is performed by a twin-roll type continuous casting method. Twin rolls have a roll diameter, and the rolls have a circumferential velocity. The circumferential length from points where molten metal starts contact with the rolls to kiss points is a solidification distance, and the roll gap at the kiss points is equal to the thickness of the cast plate. Specific relations among the above factors are maintained, and the continuous casting operation is carried out while satisfying such relations.
