A video conference system enables a video conference to be opened with the exception that a reservation server which accepts the reservation of the conference executes control of conference opening. A user inputs reservation information of the video conference relative to a reservation server while using a personal computer. When the reservation server accepts reservation, the reservation server generates a reservation number. The reservation server transmits the reservation number to any of multi-point control units. The multi-point control unit manages a reserved reservation number. A conference participant inputs the above reservation number on the occasion of circuit connection as a sub-address from any of the video conference terminal devices. The multi-point control unit receives the above reservation number on the occasion of signal reception. The multi-point control unit decides whether or not the reservation number received is the same number that the multi-point control unit manages. If the both numbers agree, it causes the conference to be opened. When another conference participant performs circuit connection with the same reservation number, it causes the conference participant to participate in the video conference which was just opened.

A video conference reservation system enables reservation of a video conference to be implemented without using a special purpose terminal for video conference reservation, and enables a distributed conference notification to be referred to without using the special purpose terminal while distributing the conference notification automatically. In a magnetic disk drive, a head carriage assembly includes a slider which is directly adhered to a carriage. The assembly, therefore, needs a minimum of constituent parts and a minimum of assembling steps. The absence of a conventional metal plate reduces the thickness of the assembly and, therefore, the overall thickness of the disk drive. The weight of the assembly is reduced in the front part of the carriage. This successfully reduces a period of time necessary for an overshoot and vibration occurring during seek due to a drive motor to attenuate, thereby reducing the reading time and writing time.

An image display system, in which a display image of a monitor of the first scanning system is taken by a TV camera of the second scanning system to pick up video signals to be displayed on a monitor of the second scanning system. The output of the TV camera of the second scanning system is multiplied by a factor.alpha. (.alpha. is any real number satisfying 0&lt;.alpha.&lt;1) in a first multiplier. This multiplication result is added together with another input value in an adder. The output of the adder is stored in a frame memory. One frame of video signals read out of the adder is multiplied by another factor (1-.alpha.) in the second multiplier. The first and second multiplication results are added together in the adder, and the addition result is returned to the frame memory as feedback. As a result, the video signals output from the TV camera are averaged to prevent an offensive image to the eye of the display.

A magnetic head device incorporated in magnetic recording and playback equipment for recording and reproducing information from a magnetic disk. The device has a magnetic head which is formed with a plurality of grooves in the surface thereof that is to face a magnetic disk. The grooves reduce the friction acting between the head and the disk during operation and thereby allows the head to slide on the disk stably with a minimum of spacing loss.

The present invention relates to a high elongation, high strength pitch-type carbon fiber which has an improved handleability. The carbon fiber of this invention has a crystalline structure arranged in such a manner that the angle (.phi.) is 24.degree.-38.degree.; the stack height (L.sub.c) is 19-35 .ANG.; and, the interlayer spacing (d.sub.002) of the X-ray structural parameter is 3.45-3.50 .ANG.. The atomic ratio of oxygen to carbon on the surface of the fiber measured by X-ray photoelectron spectrometry is 0.1-0.35. The total oxygen content in the fiber is 0.01-0.2 wt. %; and, the elongation is 1.0% or more. The high elongation, high strength pitch-type carbon fiber prepared in accordance with the present invention can be used, for example, as a reinforcing fiber for light-weight structural material employed in the aerospace, automotive and architectural industries.
