A plurality of handpieces used to perform an operation is connected to a main operation apparatus, which generates a driving signal, through connectors formed on the main apparatus. When an operator holds a handpiece he/she wants to use, an output line over which the driving signal is transmitted is routed to the held handpiece owing to an output of a sensor that detects a change in capacitance stemming from the hold. The operator therefore need not manually set a mode in which the driving signal is applied to the handpiece he/she wants to use. Moreover, a port number assigned to a port to which the output line is routed is indicated on a display device. The operator can readily identify the usable handpiece.

Surgical operation system

An ultrasonic treatment appliance includes a handpiece with a built-in ultrasonic transducer, and an elongated probe extending forward from the handpiece and connected to the ultrasonic transducer in order to propagate ultrasonic vibrations. The ultrasonic treatment appliance further comprises a distal probe part formed as an integral part of or independently of the probe at the distal end of the probe, and a clamping portion opposed to the distal probe part so that the clamping portion can open or close freely, the clamping portion being freely attachable thereto or detachable therefrom.

A hand-piece comprises an arm main body which moves relative to a grip section, and an arm section having a clamp member openable and closable with respect to a probe section. As a result of movement of the arm main body relative to the grip section, the clamp member is shifted between a closure position in which the clamp member cooperates with the probe section to hold living tissue between the clamp member and the probe section, and an open position in which the clamp member is separated from the probe section to release the living tissue.

Ultrasonic medical instrument

An ultrasonic treatment apparatus according to the present invention comprises an ultrasonic transducer for generating ultrasonic vibration, a vibration transmitting member for transmitting the ultrasonic vibration generated by the ultrasonic transducer, the vibration transmitting member having a proximal end connected to the ultrasonic transducer and a distal end portion used to treat a living organism by means of the transmitted ultrasonic vibration, a grasping member opposed to the distal end portion of the vibration transmitting member and having a grasping surface capable of grasping the living organism in cooperation with the distal end portion, an operating mechanism for moving the grasping member between a closed position in which the grasping member engages the distal end portion of the vibration transmitting member and an open position in which the grasping member is separated from distal end portion, and a follow-up mechanism for driving or allowing the grasping member in the closed position to follow a deflective displacement of the distal end portion of the vibration transmitting member so that the substantially whole surface of the grasping surface of the grasping member contacts with the distal end portion of the vibration transmitting member.

Ultrasonic treatment apparatus

An ultrasonic treatment appliance according to the present invention comprises a handpiece with a built-in ultrasonic transducer, and an elongated probe extending forward from the handpiece and connected to the ultrasonic transducer in order to propagate ultrasonic vibrations. The ultrasonic treatment appliance further comprises a distal probe part formed as an integral part of or independently of the probe at the distal end of the probe, a jaw opposed to the distal probe part so that the jaw can open or close freely, and a thin chip located on the jaw or, the clamping side of the clamping portion of the jaw on which the clamping portion touches a living tissue, or an elastic member interposed between the supporting portion and clamping portion of the jaw.

An ultrasonic surgical apparatus of the present invention includes a vibration transmitting member for transmitting an ultrasonic vibration, a probe provided at a far end of the vibration transmitting member, a jaw adapted to grasp a tissue of interest relative to the probe, a jaw holding member movably supporting the jaw, an operation drive rod connected to the jaw, and an operation unit for operating the operation drive rod. A stopper tube is provided on the operation drive rod conductive to the opening/closing operation of the jaw and an opening/closing terminal position of the jaw relative to the probe is restricted by abutting the stopper tube against the jaw holding member.

Ultrasonic surgical apparatus

An ultrasonic treatment instrument includes an ultrasonic transducer for generating ultrasonic oscillation, a hand piece containing the ultrasonic transducer, and a probe having a proximal end portion connected to the ultrasonic transducer and a distal end portion to which the ultrasonic oscillation of the ultrasonic transducer is transmitted. A sheath covers the probe and has a front end portion extending toward the distal end portion of the probe and a rear end portion connected to the hand piece. A hook-shaped treatment section is provided at the distal end portion of the probe and has a hook portion bent which is substantially perpendicular to an axis of the sheath and an axial body extending from a proximal end of the bent hook portion. The axial body is eccentric with respect to the axis of the sheath, and an operating section is provided which moves the sheath and the probe relative to each other along the axis of the sheath to thereby enable an organic tissue to be held between the hook-shaped treatment section and the front end portion of the sheath.
