A spontaneous emission display includes a support, a first electrode section provided on the support and having a fine wire structure portion made of a conductive metal and a translucent conductive film, and a display section formed on the first electrode section and having a light-emitting layer. The volume resistance of the fine wire structure portion of the first electrode is 10&#x3a9;&#xb7;cm or less and/or the surface resistance thereof is 100 &#x3a9;/sq or less. The volume resistance of the conductive film is 0.05 &#x3a9;&#xb7;cm or more and/or the surface resistance thereof is 100 &#x3a9;/sq or more. When the surface resistance of the first electrode section before a bending test is denoted by Rand that after the bending test is denoted by R, R/R&#x3c;18 is satisfied.

Disclosed is a method for producing a conductive film, which includes a silver metal forming step for forming a silver metal portion by exposing and developing a photosensitive material which has a silver salt-containing layer containing a silver salt on a supporting body, and a smoothing step for smoothing the silver metal portion. The smoothing step is performed by calender roll at a line pressure of not less than 1960 N/cm (200 kgf/cm). Consequently, the surface resistance of the film after development can be reduced in production of a conductive film which is effective for shielding electromagnetic waves.

Methods for coating various liquid coating solutions onto continuously running support webs for use in the manufacture of photographic film materials, photographic printing paper, magnetic recording materials such as magnetic recording tape, adhesive tape, information recording paper such as pressure-sensitive paper or thermal paper, and materials for use in photomechanical processes, wherein uniform coating characteristics are obtained, both at the start of coating operations and at the passage of various seams in the web. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an electric field of a strength in a range of 100-1000 volts/cm as measured with a surface potentiometer is applied on the surface of the web to be coated and, at the same time, air having a relative humidity of 70-85% is blown against the surface of the web after the start of coating operation but just prior to a time when the thin film of coating solution impinges against the web.
