A camera having a superimposing device for superimposing data such as date of photograph taking on a film surface, includes a mechanism for projecting such data in a viewfinder. The superimposing device includes a first optical path for projecting a light image of the object onto an eye-piece of the viewfinder, a second optical path for projecting a light image of the data onto the eye-piece at one predetermined portion thereof and means for forming background for the data projected in the eye-piece.

A superimposing device includes a first optical path for projecting an image of an object to be photographed on a film surface, a second optical path for projecting data on the film surface at one portion thereof, and a blocking member for blocking the first optical path for forming a shaded portion at the one portion of the film during the exposure of the object image on the film, so that the data are clearly and definitely imprinted on the one portion.

Apparatus which ensures a background providing colored contrast to permit easy legibility of data items recorded on film material is always produced irrespective of the brightness or color of a photographed scene or of the portion thereof adjacent to the data recording area on the film material. In addition the whole area of film material may be made available for carrying the image of a scene when it is required to produce a photograph unaccompanied by data. The data projection system is independent of the taking lens system for the light reflected from the external scene and a movable blocking element moves only into and out of the path of the taking lens system.

In an over-head projector or a slide projector, a positive or negative lens is provided immediately in front of a transparency in the projector. The lens is normally perpendicular to the optical axis of the projection lens, and is inclined to an oblique angle with respect to the optical axis when the image projected on a projection screen is distorted owing to oblique projection of the image on the screen.

Large camera viewfinder system in which an eyepiece is positioned at an upper rear portion of the camera, to permit eye-level viewing and free adjustment of camera attitude and a viewfinder objective lens assembly which has the same focal length as and is movable equivalent amounts simultaneously with a movable front lens assembly of a taking lens assembly, is positioned level with and a short distance from the taking lens assembly, the viewfinder objective lens assembly and eyepiece being on opposite sides of the optical axis of the taking lens assembly, and light being transmitted therebetween by an optical system inside the camera. With the viewfinder objective lens assembly being close to the taking lens assembly but a comparatively long distance from the viewfinder eyepiece problems of parallax are minimum and image erection can be effected by a simple lens means, a heavy and expensive prism such as a roof-angle prism being unnecessary.

Folding camera wherein a lens mount carrying at least a taking lens assembly may be held in a position for taking photographs by a case and a folding box assembly, the case being connected to the lens mount through linkage assemblies and also serving to contain electrical circuit elements for control of the camera flash system. The folding box assembly consists of two boxes which are fixedly held in alignment with one another and provide a rigid support for the lens mount when the camera is open, and are folded into the camera to define a single box which encloses the lens mount when the camera is folded, at which time the outer walls of the case and folding box assembly constitute front and lower wall portions of the camera.

Folding camera

Folding camera in which a lens mount carrying a taking lens assembly may be held in a position for taking photographs by linkage assemblies constituted by sides of a case and associated link rods and pivotal support assemblies each constituted by a flat plate connected to the lens mount and a guide rod which connects the plate to the camera and guides movement thereof when the camera is opened or closed. The case constituting part of the linkage assemblies contains flash control elements and forms a front wall portion of the camera when the camera is folded. The pivotal support assembly elements, being flat or narrow, require only minimum accommodation space in the camera, which is therefore rendered compact and easily transportable when folded.

Focus adjustment and determination means wherein viewfinder and taking optical systems are positioned in close proximity and are displaced simultaneously by amounts proportional to their focal lengths.

A view finder optical system suitable for use in a single or twin lens reflex camera, using an image erecting-and-reflecting optical element. This optical element functions to change the image to be photographed appearing on the focusing plate of the camera to an erect real image which stands at a proper distance from the eyepiece of the camera. This makes it possible to increase the magnification of the view finder as much as required simply by using a short focal length eyepiece.

There is disclosed a bellows for use in a foldable camera provided between the main body and lens mount of the camera with inward and outward folding lines including a couple of lines to raise and to bow the lens mount against the main body in the folded configuration, thereby facilitating the accommodation of the lens mount within the camera room provided in front of the main body.
