The present invention provides the softener composition containing the specific quaternary ammonium salts (I) and (II) each having a bis(polyalkoxyalkanol) structure, represented by the formulae (I) and (II) respectively, at a weight ratio of (I):(II) of 50.1:49.9 to 99.99:0.01.

Softener composition comprising ethoxylated esterquats

The invention provides a soil release agent and a detergent composition blended therewith. The invention relates to a crosslinked product obtained by reacting a compound having 2 to 32 hydroxyl groups, such as triethanol amine, with a compound having at least two functional groups reacting with hydroxyl groups, such as (poly)ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether, a soil release agent containing the crosslinked product, and a detergent composition containing the soil release agent.

The present invention relates to a surfactant composition containing a composition containing a diol derivative (I) and a surfactant: wherein Ris an alkyl or alkenyl group having 4 to 22 carbons, Ris an alkyl or alkenyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and one of Rand Ris a straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 4 to 22 carbon atoms and derived from Rand the other is a hydrogen atom.

Thickener

A thickener which is superior in handling characteristics and blending stability and has a high thickening action is provided, comprising a fatty acid alkanolamide represented by the general formula (1) and a surfactant composition comprising the thickener and at least one surfactant:wherein Rrepresents a straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 5 to 21 carbon atoms which may be substituted with at least one hydroxy group, Rand Rindependently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 2 carbon atoms, AO represents an oxyalkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and n denotes a number of 0 to 10 in average.

To provide a surfactant composition with an excellent foamability and thickening performance and further an excellent storage stability, it comprises the following components (a) and (b): (a) at least one anionic surfactant selected from (1) sulfonate-type anionic surfactants having amide group or ester group, (2) carboxylate-type anionic surfactants and (3) phosphate-type anionic surfactants and (b) a compound expressed by the formula (I):where RCO&#x2014; is an acyl group having 6 to 24 carbon atoms, Ris an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms and Ris an alkylene group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or an alkenylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms.

Disclosed is a detergent composition characterized by low skin irritation, good foamability, easy handling at the time of manufacture, and excellent stability when stored as a product. The detergent composition is a composition which contains a specific amount of (A) a specific amide alcohol and (B) at least one surfactant selected from an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant, and an amphoteric surfactant, wherein the pH (25&deg; C.) of the 20-fold diluted aqueous solution of the composition is 4.5 to 6.8.

Mild cationic surfactants having good foaming conditioning properties

The present invention provides a novel betaine compound represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkyl group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms; X is H or a hydroxyl group; R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Y is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 SO.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.n SO.sub.3 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CO.sub.2 ; n is 2 to 5; m is 1 to 5; and l is 0 to 5; a process for the preparation of the same; and a detergent composition containing the same. This detergent composition exhibits excellent foaming power and detergency and is lowly irritant, thus being suitable for a base of a body or hair shampoo.

Betaine compound and detergent composition

The present invention provides a novel betaine compound represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkyl group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms; X is H or a hydroxy group; R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Y is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 SO.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.n SO.sub.3 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CO.sub.2 ; n is 2 to 5; m is 1 to 5; and l is 0 to 5; a process for the preparation of the same; and a detergent composition containing the same. This detergent composition exhibits excellent foaming power and detergency and is lowly irritant, thus being suitable for a base of a body or hair shampoo.

A fuel oil composition comprises fuel oil and 0.1 to 50,000 ppm of an additive compound having the formula (I) in which R is a hydrocarbyl radical having 10 to 50 carbon atoms, A is an alkylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, m is an integer of 10 to 50 and n is an integer of 1 to 3. It is improved in cleaning property.

Fuel oil additive and fuel oil additive composition

A surface active agent comprising a specific type of secondary amidoamino acid or ammonium ion or triethanolammonium salt thereof, ##STR1## as a major component, and not more than 0.2 mole of an inorganic salt per 100 gm of said secondary amidoamino acid or 100 gm of a salt thereof as converted to the acid type secondary amidoamino acid. The surface active agent can be prepared by subjecting the alkali metal salt of secondary amidoamino acid, usually containing a great amount of impurities such as sodium chloride, to electrodialysis. It has excellent compatibility with various additives such as water-soluble polymer due to its low ionic strength and yet exhibits a good low-temperature stability when made into an aqueous solution owing to its low Krafft point.

Surface active secondary amidoamino acid or salt compounds

A novel process for preparing an alkanolammonium salt or ammonium salt of an amino acid surface active agent or an acylated amino acid surface active agent. In the process, an alkali metal salt of an amino acid surface active agent or acylated amino acid surface active agent is subjected to electrodialysis in the presence of a mineral acid salt of an alkanolamine or ammonia, or a mixture of an alkanolamine or ammonia and a mineral acid. By-products which are produced during the preparation of the above surface active agents can be mostly removed to outside during the electrodialysis and are thus purified conveniently.
