Tin or tin alloy plating liquid with a sufficient plated deposit can be formed in the opening without causing burns on the plated film surface or abnormal deposits, and which has a good via filling effect. When a specific &#x3b1;, &#x3b2;-unsaturated carbonyl compound is added into the tin or tin alloy plating liquid, the plating liquid with good via filling performance can be obtained, and the deposit which is substantially free of voids and burns or abnormal deposits on the deposit surface are reduced.

A signal indicative of the remaining capacity of a storage battery for propelling an electric vehicle is transmitted and received between a portable control unit and a communication unit on the electric vehicle. A friction clutch including a clutch disc member retained in a clutch outer member securely mounted on one of two opposing shafts and pressed against a rotationally blocked friction disc on the other shaft to transmit torque thereto. The clutch outer member has a notched cylindrical body, and the clutch disc member, which is accommodated in the cylindrical body, has a projection extending radially outwardly from a circumferential portion thereof and loosely fitted in the notch. The clutch construction ensures smooth coupling of the two shafts in spite of abrupt changes in load conditions, thus protecting the associated component parts from mechanical shocks.

A cooling structure for an internal combustion engine, comprises a crankcase for housing an engine crankshaft, a cover defining a cooling chamber between the cover and the crankcase and a transmission case integral with the crankcase. The structure comprises communication passages communicable with the cooling chamber and the transmission case chamber for providing air from the outside through the communication passages to the transmission chamber to suppress the overheating of the transmission unit.

A light, miniaturized power transmission device of the type wherein the power from a drive shaft is transmitted to a driven shaft via a planetary gear mechanism. The planetary gear mechanism has a ring gear, a sun gear disposed concentrically on the radially inner side of the ring gear, and planetary gears disposed between and engaged with the sun gear and the ring gear. At least the meshing portions of the planetary gears, ring gear and sun gear are resiliently held from opposite side surfaces thereof by a pair of side plates attached to said planetary gear mechanism. The side plates permit free orbital movements of the planetary gears and suppresses the relative axial movements of the ring gear, planetary gears and sun gear. A centrifugally operated friction clutch is disposed between the drive shaft and the planetary gear mechanism so as to control the transmission of power from the drive shaft to the planetary gear mechanism. The clutch comprises an annular outer contactor integrally formed with the ring gear, and inner contactors which are connected to the drive shaft for rotation therewith and adapted to be placed under a centrifugal force into frictional contact with the annular outer contactor to thereby transmit the rotation of the drive shaft to the ring gear when the number of revolutions of the drive shaft exceeds a predetermined level.
