A sealed compressor according to the present invention comprises an electric element; a compression element; a sealed container; and a suction pipe. The compression element includes a compression chamber, a piston provided inside of the compression chamber, and a suction muffler communicating with the inside of the sealed container and the compression chamber. The suction muffler is laid out such that an opening portion thereof at the sealed container side faces an opening portion of the suction pipe at the sealed container side. The suction muffler includes: a hood section provided in the vicinity of the opening portion of the suction muffler to extend toward the inside of the sealed container, the hood section being configured to collect cooling medium gas discharged from the suction pipe; and an auxiliary hood fastened to the hood section and formed in a manner to increase a collection area of the hood section.

Sealed compressor

A sealed compressor comprises an electric element; a compression element; and a sealed container accommodating the electric element and the compression element; wherein the compression element includes a cylinder block defining a compression chamber; a piston which is reciprocatable inside the compression chamber; and a valve plate disposed to close an opening end of the compression chamber and having a discharge hole which provides communication between inside and outside of the compression chamber; the piston has a first groove on a tip end surface thereof which faces the valve plate, the first groove having a predetermined width and extending from an outer peripheral edge portion of the tip end surface toward a portion of the tip end surface which faces the discharge hole; and a tip end portion of the first groove is positioned in the portion of the tip end surface which faces the discharge hole and is inclined.

A hermetic compressor includes an airtight container containing lubricating oil and having a compression element and a motor element. The compression element compresses a refrigerant by being driven by the motor element. The compression element includes a crankshaft extending in a vertical direction and having a main shaft and an eccentric part; a block forming a compression space; a piston having a cylindrical shape and reciprocating in the compression space; and a connecting rod for transmitting the rotation of the eccentric part to the piston. The piston has its center of gravity on either the upper side or the lower side in the vertical direction with respect to a plane which passes through the central axis of the piston and is perpendicular to the crankshaft.

Hermetic compressor and fridge-freezer

A compressor includes a motor driven by a controller and having a rotor and a stator, a compressing unit driven by the motor in a hermetic container in which refrigerant is filled. Driving the motor at a low rpm, the controller practices a feedback control which determines a timing of turning on/off switching elements based on a signal detecting a position of the rotor, and when the motor is driven at a high rpm, the controller practices an open-loop control which outputs a given frequency and drives the motor synchronizing with the given frequency. This structure achieves a compressor working with a fewer noises in PWM driving.

Electric compressor

The hermetic compressor has grooves provided at an upper side and a lower side of outer circumference of a piston. Of outer shape of the grooves, the outer shape of the grooves communicating with a space in the hermetic container at least when the piston is in a bottom dead center is a shape not forming parallel line to an axial center of the piston when the grooves are developed in a plane.

Optical multiplexer/demultiplexer and optical communication system

A compressor is operable to compress refrigerant at a variable operation frequency. According to a method of controlling the compressor, the compressor starts operating, and just after that, the compressor operates at a first frequency for a first period of time. Just after that, the compressor operates at a second frequency lower than the first frequency for a second period of time longer than the first period, and after that, the compressor operates at an ordinary operation. This method does not cause the compressor to generate an abnormal noise or obstruction to lubrication.

Method of controlling compressor and controller

A refrigerant compressor includes a compressor section, driver, a first contact section and a second contact section. The compressor section is accommodated in a closed container for compressing refrigerant gas. The driver drives the compressor section. The first and second contact sections are brought into contact with each other or they slide with each other by driving the compressor section. On the surface of each one of the contact sections, at least one of plural recesses uniformly placed or a mixed layer, to which molybdenum disulfide (MoS) is bound, is formed. The foregoing structure allows increasing the abrasion resistance of the first and second contact sections.

Optical device

An optical multiplexer/demultiplexer is provided with a first member, a second member and an optical filter. The first member is a planar waveguide and is formed with an optical waveguide and another optical waveguide. The second member is a planar waveguide and is formed with an optical waveguide and another optical waveguide. The optical filter is a dielectric multi-layered filter and is sandwiched between the end face of the first member and the end face of the second member.

Optical multiplexer/demultiplexer, optical communication system and method of manufacturing the optical multiplexer/demultiplexer

An optical device comprising a first optical path having a first optical axis, a second optical path having a second optical axis not parallel to the first optical axis, and a mirror arranged to move across a bisector of an angle between the first and second optical axes. The mirror has a surface including a reflecting portion for reflecting light from the first path toward the second path. The reflecting portion has an edge including a linear portion placed on a plane substantially perpendicular to the bisector. The linear portion is inclined relative to a normal to a plane including the first and second optical axes.

Optical device and movable reflector

A hermetic electric compressor is capable of efficiently pumping up a necessary amount of lubricating oil even at low-speed rotation and has a simple constitution to provide an excellent workablity in assembling. The hermetic electric compressor includes an oil pump. The oil pump includes (i) a slanting channel formed in the lower portion of a main shaft and slanting from the lower portion to the upper portion thereof outwardly, (ii) a throttle formed at the bottom end of the main shaft and having an inlet port of diameter smaller than the section of the slanting channel at the center thereof, and (iii) a lower communicating passage for providing a communication between the bottom end of a spiral groove and the slanting channel. This constitution is capable of effectively lift the head of the lubricating oil.
