A light-emitting element contains negative ions and positive ions, and includes a solid ionic layer, a layer containing quantum dots, and a cathode electrode and an anode electrode. The ionic layer includes a p-type doped region on the anode electrode side containing the negative ions in a higher quantity than the positive ions, an n-type doped region on the cathode electrode side containing the positive ions in a higher quantity than the negative ions, and a junction region between the p-type doped region and the n-type doped region. The layer containing the quantum dots is adjacent to the junction region. Alternatively, the quantum dots are contained in the junction region. Alternatively, the quantum dots are adjacent to the junction region.

Light-emitting element, light-emitting device, and method for manufacturing light-emitting element

A light-emitting device includes: an anode electrode; a cathode electrode; a plurality of light-emitting layers sandwiched between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode; and a light absorption layer disposed between the plurality of light-emitting layers and a light extraction surface, wherein the plurality of light-emitting layers include InP based quantum dots and are configured to emit at least green color of light and red color of light, and the light absorption layer selectively absorbs light at 570 to 610 nm.

A QD particle dispersion contains a surface modification compound that protects a surface of QD phosphor particles dispersed in a solvent. The surface modification compound includes a heteroatom-containing functional group and a chain-type saturated hydrocarbon group. The QD particle dispersion is configured such that the absolute value of a difference between the surface free energy of an underlayer that provides a foundation for forming a QD layer in the light-emitting element and the surface free energy of the QD layer is 5 mN/m or less.

A light-emitting device includes a light-emitting element that emits blue light, a Mn-activated &#x3b3;-AlON phosphor and a Eu-activated &#x3b2;-SiAlON phosphor that are excited by the blue light to emit green light, and a red phosphor that is excited by the blue light to emit red light. The weight ratio of the Mn-activated &#x3b3;-AlON phosphor to the Eu-activated &#x3b2;-SiAlON phosphor is from 20 to 75.

A light-emitting device includes a light-emitting element that emits blue light, a Mn-activated &#x3b3;-AlON green phosphor, and a dispersing material in which the green phosphor is dispersed. The green phosphor has an in-crystal Mn concentration of 2.5 wt % or more. The shortest path of the blue light through the dispersing material is 1 mm long or shorter.

A wavelength converter includes a resin including a constitutional unit that includes an ionic liquid or a derivative of the ionic liquid, and a semiconductor nanoparticle phosphor included in the resin and emitting fluorescence upon receiving excitation light. A light emitting device includes the wavelength converter and a light source emitting excitation light to the wavelength converter, which is provided separately from the wavelength converter.
