A magnetic disk system comprises a magnetic head for writing data on and reading data from a magnetic disk as a recording medium and a magnetic disk unit having a head positioning mechanism for positioning the magnetic head on a selected track of the magnetic disk without forming servo information on the magnetic disk. The magnetic head comprises an MR film which is disposed parallel to the direction of the width of a track of the magnetic disk, current supplying electrodes disposed to be in contact with both ends of the magnetic film which are opposed in the direction of the track width and a signal detecting electrode disposed between the current supplying electrodes to be in contact with the MR film. The width of the signal detecting electrode is less than 1/3 of that of the current supplying electrodes. The magnetic disk system permits highly accurate alignment of the magnetic head with closely spaced tracks.

Magnetic disk system having a magnetoresistive head provided therein

A magnetic or optical disk apparatus having a flexible disk rotated at high speed and head sliders for reading and writing information on the disk, floating from both sides of the disk. The disk apparatus is also provided with straightening plates for keeping air flow in the radial direction of the disk as a laminar flow to surely prevent the disk from being vibrated at the time when the disk is rotated at high speed. As the result, positions of the head sliders relative to the disk can be surely and accurately maintained to provide heads with excellent recording and reproducing characteristics. Mass storage and high speed access can be thus achieved without damaging the flexible disk and the disk apparatus can be smaller-sized with lighter weight and lower cost.

Flexible information storing disk apparatus having laminar air flow

A film carrier for a semiconductor device tested with a tester having a plurality of test pins arranged with predetermined interval, comprises a film substrate of insulating material. A plurality of conductive leads are arranged on the film substrate with predetermined spacing with respect to an adjacent one. Each lead has testing lead portion and circuit lead portion. The spacing between the adjacent testing lead portion is larger than the spacing between the adjacent circuit lead portion. The testing lead portion is removed partially from the conductive lead after an efficiency test.

Film carrier and a method for manufacturing a semiconductor device

A waveform equalizer is arranged to transform a signal reproduced from a magnetic recording medium and having a longitudinal waveform component to a signal of a perpendicular waveform. The waveform equalizer comprises a tapped delay line having a first end connected to receive the reproduced signal and a second end arranged to reflect the reproduced signal, and a weighting adder for weighting tap voltages of the tapped delay line and adding together the weighted voltages. A combiner may be provided to additively or subtractively combine an output signal of the weighting adder with an output signal of either the tapped delay line or another delay line receiving the reproduced signal so as to transform a reproduced signal having both longitudinal and perpendicular waveform components to a signal with a longitudinal waveform or a perpendicular waveform. The second end of the tapped delay line may be short-circuited or connected to a resistor in order to reflect the signal.
