An electronic device is provided with a touch panel of a capacitive type and a controller. The controller, based on a detection value of the touch panel, detects capacitance generated between the touch panel and a contact object and detects, as a contact region, a first region having the capacitance smaller than a capacitance of the other region of the touch panel.

Electronic device and control method

A mobile device includes an acceleration sensor, a touch screen and a controller. The acceleration sensor is capable of detecting a direction and a magnitude of acceleration acting on the mobile device. The touch screen is capable of measuring electrostatic distribution. The controller is capable of executing an estimation whether the mobile device is being immersed in water based on the electrostatic distribution. The controller periodically executes the estimation upon determining that the mobile device is moving in a direction opposite to a gravity direction based on the direction and the magnitude of the acceleration when estimating that the mobile device is being immersed in water.

A mobile device according to one of a plurality of aspects comprises an atmospheric pressure sensor configured to measure a value of atmospheric pressure, a touch screen, and at least one controller configured to conjecture that the mobile device is immersed in water when the value of the atmospheric pressure satisfies a condition. The at least one controller is configured to conjecture whether the mobile device that has been immersed in water is out of the water on the basis of a detection result obtained by the touch screen. The mobile device is able to determine whether the mobile device is immersed in water and whether the mobile device is out of the water, while keeping the electric power consumption low, due to using the touch screen only when determining whether the mobile device is out of the water.

An end-face-side core 5 from which an optical fiber hole forming pin 1 is projected is fastened by a mold to a fiber-side core 10 from which an optical fiber hole forming pin 6 and a cavity forming member (for example, a tape fiber hole forming rectangular body 8) are projected, while the end-face-side core and the fiber-side core are opposed to each other, the cavity forming member being behind the optical fiber hole forming pin 6 and larger than the optical fiber hole forming pin. A resin is injected into a cavity formed in the mold. The mold is opened, the end-face-side core 5 and the fiber-side core 10 are slid in directions in which the end-face-side core and the fiber-side core are separated from each other, and a resin molded product is then taken out.

Method of molding an optical connector ferrule

An optical connector according to the present invention is comprised of a ferrule having at least one optical fiber and a plurality of guide holes, and a plurality of guide pins each being inserted in each of the holes. The guide pin is capable of being attached into and detached from the hole. At least one of an inner diameter of the guide hole and an outer diameter of the guide pin change the longitudinal direction thereof, and at least a part of the guide pin is in contact with the guide hole.

A novel optical connector that includes the following: an optical connector ferrule which is capable of fixing optical fibers; optical fibers fixed onto the optical connector ferrule, such that the end surfaces of the optical fibers project beyond an end surface of the optical connector ferrule; an adhesive for fixing the optical fibers onto the optical connector ferrule; and a member whose Young's Modulus is less than that of the optical fiber and is provided to an area on the end surface of the optical connector ferrule surrounding, at a minimum, the projected portions of the optical fibers. And when the end surface of the optical connector is polished, the ends of the optical fibers are capable of projecting from the end surface of the optical connector ferrule, even if the end surface portion of the optical connector ferrule contains a filler, the hardness of which is less than that of the optical fibers.

A novel optical connector that includes the following: a optical connector ferrule which is capable of fixing optical fibers; optical fibers fixed onto the optical connector ferrule, such that the end surfaces of the optical fibers project beyond an end surface of the optical connector ferrule; an adhesive for fixing the opticalfibers onto the optical connector ferrule; and a member whose Young's Modulus is less than that of the optical fiber and is provided to an area on the end surface of the optical connector ferrule surronding, at a minimum, the projected portions of the optical fibers. And when the end surface of the optical connector is polished, the ends of the optical fibers are capable of projecting from the end surface of the optical connector ferrule, even if the end surface portion of the optical connector ferrule contains afiller, the hardness of which is less than that oaf the optical fibers.

Optical connectors capable of contacting endfaces of optical fibers

The present invention relates to an adhesive for connecting and fixing an optical fiber to an optical connector and to an optical connector which uses that adhesive. The adhesive prevents deformation of the optical connector ferrule and stressing of the optical fiber due to hardening shrinkage during the hardening of the adhesive and/or a shrinkage during cooling of the adhesive. In accordance with the invention, (1) the value of (the coefficient of linear expansion (.degree.C..sup.-1) of the adhesive).times.(the difference between a hardening temperature of the adhesive and room temperature (.degree.C.)).times.(Young's Modulus (kg/mm.sup.2) of the adhesive) is equal to or less than about 2.5, (2) the value of (the rate of hardening shrinkage (%) of the adhesive).times.(Young's Modulus (kg/mm.sup.2) of the adhesive) is equal to or less than about 1000 and/or (3) the adhesive hardens at room temperature.

An optical connector in which the deformation of the connector caused by the shrinkage of an adhesive at the time of adhering and fixing an optical fiber and a ferrule is small, and the increment of loss in connection is suppressed.
