First link members (A andB), a pair of second link members (A andB), and three head holders (R,G, andB) are installed rotatably. Rotational pivots (A andB) provided at intermediate portions of the second link members (A andB) and a reference nozzle of the reference head holder (R) are positioned on the same line in a main scanning direction. The reference head holder (R) is rotated about the reference nozzle, and the other head holders (G andB) are also rotated simultaneously. The head holders (G andB) are formed to be movable parallel to a sub scanning direction, irrespective of the rotation angles thereof.

Nozzle head, nozzle head holder, and droplet jet patterning device

A liquid droplet patterning apparatus includes a plurality of support members, rotation servomotors, sliding mechanisms and position adjusting mechanisms. The support members rotatably support nozzle heads. The servomotors rotate the respective nozzle heads about an axis extending in a direction parallel to a liquid droplet ejecting direction of the nozzle heads and orthogonal to a nozzle alignment direction in the nozzle heads, with respect to the support members. The sliding mechanisms slidably support the respective support members in the sub-scanning direction.

Liquid droplet patterning apparatus

An electric discharge machine has a CPU that controls a switching element that supplies a pulse voltage to the gap between an electrode (which may be a wire electrode) and a workpiece. The CPU is able to determine the average pre-discharge time (the average time between the turning on of the switching element and the start of each electrical discharge) based on the sampling time interval and the counted number of discharges that occurred during the sampling time interval, by turning off the switching element at a set time after the start of each electrical discharge, and turning the switching element on again after a longer set time has elapsed from the start of each electrical discharge. The average gap voltage and average gap current are then calculated and displayed from this data. The feeding of the electrode and the workpiece relative to each other is controlled to reduce the difference between the counted number of discharges that occurred during the sampling time interval and a calculated desired number of discharges.

EDM control system to maximize efficiency by controlling the gap width

A wire cutting type electrical discharge machining system includes a wire supply device, an upper and lower electrode guides, and a wire take-up device for feeding a wire electrode so as to carry out the discharge machining on an electrically conductive workpiece. An improved wire-disconnection detecting device attached to the system includes a first and second wire-slack detecting members of metallic tube through which the wire is passed with a small distance formed therebetween, a wire-disconnection detecting circuits connected between the detecting members and the wire, including a power supply, and a sensor for sensing a flow of current from the power supply through the detecting members and the wire upon contact of the two due to a slack of the wire. A disconnection of the wire is detected when the flow of current is sensed by the sensor.

Wire cutting type electrical discharge machining system

A wire cutting type electrical discharge machining system compactly assembled due to improved arrangement. It includes a frame, a vertical column with upper and lower arms, a bed for supporting a feed device for an electrically conductive workpiece, and a vertically elongate mounting plate. The mounting plate secured, at a lateral part thereof on one of opposite surfaces thereof, to the rear side of the column is provided with a wire supply/take-up assembly mounted on the same surface where it is fixed to the column. On the other surface of the mounting plate a box accommodating an electrical discharge controller is fixed. This arrangement is helpful in facilitating the assemblying operation of the system, in good use of a possibly formed dead space above the bed, and further in simplifying the wire path by arranging the wire supply unit in alignment with the upper arm, and the wire tape-up unit in alignment with the lower arm.

Compact assembly for a wire cutting type electrical discharge machining

A wire cutting type electrical discharge machining system in which a work pan can be made smaller in size than that in prior art by virtue of changing its structure. The device has (a) a work pan for supporting a workpiece therein including a side wall which has an elongate aperture extending horizontally and having guide grooves along upper and lower sides of the elongate aperture, (b) a lower arm extending laterally through the elongate aperture inwardly into the work pan as far as below the workpiece, (c) a closure strip disposed along the elongate aperture for closing it substantially fluid-tightly by being guided in the guide grooves, top and bottom, and provided with a hole in a longitudinally central position thereof for allowing the lower arm to slidably extend therethrough, and (d) annular sealing means disposed in the closure strip for allowing the lower arm to move fluid-tightly in the longitudinal direction thereof. The lower arm can freely move in any desired direction while being well sealed in the compactly made work pan.
