Provided is a microchannel device, which has high hydrophobicity, high mechanical strength, and safety and also has high solvent resistance, and thus has wider applicability. The microchannel device includes a porous substrate having formed therein channel walls each containing a cyclic olefin copolymer that is a copolymer of an alkene and a cyclic olefin.

Microchannel device

An image forming apparatus includes a developer carrying member that bears and conveys developer. The developer carrying member has at least a base and a surface layer, with the surface layer having an electron donating portion that mainly donates charge to the developer when the developer and the surface layer make frictional contact to exchange charge and an electron accepting portion that mainly accepts charge from the developer when the developer and the surface layer makes frictional contact to exchange charge. A controller applies an AC voltage to the developer carrying member during a period in which an image forming operation is not performed and the developer carrying member is driven, with the AC voltage being different from that applied during an image forming period, and a rotating speed of the developer carrying member during a non-image forming period is slower than that during an image forming period.

Image forming apparatus having toner charging

The present disclosure provides a method for producing a microchannel device, which can form a channel that has high hydrophobicity, high solvent resistance as well, and also resistance to heat and damage, on demand with high accuracy, and produces the microchannel device at a low cost, while having high productivity. The method for producing a microchannel device includes: forming a channel pattern from a hydrophobic resin on a porous substrate by an electrophotographic method; melting the channel pattern by heat to allow the channel pattern to permeate into the porous substrate, thereby forming a channel in the inside of the porous substrate.

During non-image formation, an exposure unit exposes an image formable region on the image bearing member surface charged by a charging member to light, and, in a state where toner is able to be supplied from a developing member to the image bearing member, during a period from when a developing voltage starts to be changed from a first developing voltage to a second developing voltage smaller than the first developing voltage until the developing voltage is completed to be changed to the second developing voltage. A controller controls the exposure unit so that, after the image bearing member surface exposed to light with a first exposure amount by the exposure unit passes through a development portion, the image bearing member surface exposed to light with a second exposure amount smaller than the first exposure amount by the exposure unit passes through the development portion.

Image forming apparatus with fog suppression feature

A nip portion is formed between a transfer member and an image bearing member. During an image transfer operation, a first transfer voltage is applied so that a first charging voltage is applied to the surface of the image bearing member forming the nip portion. Before paper enters, a second transfer voltage is applied so that a third charging voltage is applied to the surface of the image bearing member forming the nip portion. A void is formed by the image bearing member, the transfer member and the paper within the nip portion. Before an image transfer operation and the void is formed, one of the first and second transfer voltages and a third transfer voltage is applied so that a second charging voltage having a same polarity as the first charging voltage and being lower in absolute value is applied to the surface of the image bearing member.

Toner

A toner according to the present disclosure maintains high transfer efficiency for the long term and obtains images which are not affected by toner base particles easily, which exhibit excellent charge stability, and which exhibit less fogging, wherein the toner is obtained by making inorganic fine particles and charge control particles, which satisfy specific conditions, present on the surfaces of toner base particles so as to satisfy a specific coverage relationship.

There is provided a toner including toner base particles and an external additive in which the external additive is prevented from being buried in the base particles. The toner can maintain a high transfer efficiency over an extended period of use. The toner includes: (1) toner base particles containing a cycloolefin copolymer and a polyethylene; or (2) toner base particles whose surfaces contain a resin having an elastic deformation rate of 70% or more and a melting temperature of 125.0&#xb0; C. or less.

Provided is a toner, including a toner particle having a core particle containing a binder resin and a colorant. The toner particle has a protrusion on a surface thereof, and the protrusion contains an olefin-based polymer having a cyclic olefin structure. Toner and method of producing the toner

A developing device includes: a developing container for accommodating developer, a developer carrying member, and a plate-like elastic member. In a state in which the elastic member contacts the developer carrying member without being deformed, an angle formed between a flat reference surface passing through a surface of the elastic member which is continuous to a contact portion of the elastic member with the developer carrying member and which is downstream of the contact portion with respect to the movement direction and a tangent plane of the developer carrying member and a contact position between the elastic member and the developer carrying member is 10&#xb0; or more and 45&#xb0; or less, and the elastic member includes a first region including the contact portion and a second region which is provided continuously from the first region toward the supporting portion and which is lower in rigidity than the first region.

Developer carrying member and image forming apparatus

In an image forming apparatus having a photosensitive drum that carries a toner image, a developing roller is provided to be capable of rotating while carrying toner and supplies the toner to the photosensitive drum in order to develop a latent image, and a voltage applying device applies a voltage to the developing roller. The developing roller includes a conductive base layer and a surface layer covering the base layer, and a surface charge density of the developing roller is equal to or smaller than a surface charge density of the toner.

Image forming apparatus

A developing roller that is capable of carrying toner on a surface thereof, and that supplies the toner carried on the surface to a surface of a photosensitive drum when a voltage is applied thereto, includes: a rubber layer; and a surface layer that covers the rubber layer, contains alumina, and has a higher volume resistivity than the rubber layer.
