A manufacturing machine is capable of subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing for a workpiece. The manufacturing machine includes: a first headstock and a second headstock disposed in a machining area and configured to hold a workpiece; a tool spindle and a lower tool rest disposed in the machining area and configured to hold a tool to be used for subtractive manufacturing for the workpiece; an additive manufacturing head configured to discharge a material during additive manufacturing for the workpiece; a workpiece gripper configured to grip the workpiece during transportation of the workpiece into and out of the machining area; and a robot arm on which the additive manufacturing head and the workpiece gripper are mountable. Accordingly, the manufacturing machine improving the productivity in the simple and easy manner is provided.

Manufacturing machine

A workpiece processing method is a method for successively processing a plurality of workpieces including a first workpiece and a second workpiece in a single machining area. The workpiece processing method includes: performing additive manufacturing on the second workpiece in the machining area; and performing subtractive manufacturing on the first workpiece in the machining area while keeping on standby the second workpiece on which additive manufacturing is performed. In this way, the workpiece processing method with improved productivity is provided.

Workpiece processing method

An additive-manufacturing head is used for performing additive manufacturing by feeding a material to a workpiece and irradiating the workpiece with a laser beam. The additive-manufacturing head includes: a ring-shape laser beam forming unit configured to form a laser beam in a ring shape; a laser beam emitting unit configured to emit the ring-shape laser beam toward a workpiece; and a material feeding unit having an outlet which is disposed inside the ring-shape laser beam emitted from the laser beam emitting unit and from which the material is released, and configured to feed the material from the outlet toward the workpiece. The head configured in this manner can improve the material usage efficiency for the directed energy deposition method.

Additive-manufacturing head, manufacturing machine, and manufacturing method

An additive-manufacturing head includes: a ring-shape laser beam forming unit having axicon lenses facing each other and a convex lens between the axicon lenses to form a laser beam entering through the axicon lens into a ring-shape laser beam and emit the ring-shape laser beam from the other axicon lens; a lens moving mechanism to move the convex lens in the optical axis direction of the laser beam; a laser beam emitting unit to emit the ring-shape laser beam toward a workpiece; and a material powder feeding tube having an outlet which is disposed inside the ring-shape laser beam emitted from the laser beam emitting unit and from which material powder is released, to feed the material powder from the outlet toward the workpiece. Accordingly, the additive-manufacturing head capable of freely controlling the size of the laser-beam-irradiated region and the laser beam intensity distribution on the workpiece is provided.

Additive-manufacturing head and manufacturing machine

A manufacturing machine is capable of additive manufacturing. The manufacturing machine includes: a connecting part configured to be connectable to a machine tool capable of subtractive manufacturing; and an additive manufacturing head configured to be positioned in a machining area of the machine tool and discharge a material, when the connecting part is connected to the machine tool. The manufacturing machine for additive manufacturing that can be installed at a low cost is thus provided.

A method for generating control data is a method for generating control data for manufacturing a product having a designated shape using an additive manufacturing technology. The control data includes a path of a nozzle for supplying a material. The method for generating the control data includes: determining a cutting path for cutting the designated shape by a tool; and determining the path of the nozzle by reproducing the cutting path temporally reversely.

Method, data processing device, and machine tool for generating dimensional tool paths and control signals for material dispositioning

A manufacturing machine is capable of subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing for a workpiece. The manufacturing machine includes: a first headstock and a second headstock disposed in a first processing area and configured to hold a workpiece; a lower tool rest and a tool spindle disposed in the first processing area and configured to hold a tool to be used for subtractive manufacturing for the workpiece; an additive manufacturing head disposed in a second processing area; and a robot arm configured to hold a workpiece and transport the workpiece between the first processing area and the second processing area. The additive manufacturing head is configured to discharge a material toward the workpiece held by the robot arm during additive manufacturing for the workpiece. Accordingly, the manufacturing machine configured simply to be capable of subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing is provided.

A numerical control (NC) program generating apparatus includes a standby state analyzing unitanalyzing an NC program to determine whether a block in which an operation unit is brought into a standby state is present, and when such a block is present, determining whether a power sourcecorresponding to the operation unit can be stopped at the time of execution of the block to specify a stoppable block, and a power operation code inserting unitinserting an operation code for stopping the corresponding power sourceat the time of execution of the stoppable block into the NC program and inserting an operation code for restarting the power sourceafter the execution of the block into the NC program.

Numerical control (NC) program generating apparatus considering power saving

A machine tool includes a time calculation unit calculating the time for a spindle to arrive at a target rotational speed, and the time for a spindle head to arrive at a target position; a comparison unit comparing the time to arrive at the target rotational speed and the time to arrive at the target position; and a drive control unit controlling the drive of the spindle and the drive of the spindle head. The drive control unit controls the drive of the spindle head, when a determination is made that the time to arrive at the target rotational speed is longer than the time to arrive at the target position, such that the time for the spindle head to arrive at the target position is longer than the calculated time to arrive at the target position, and less than or equal to the calculated time to arrive at the target rotational speed. Accordingly, the machine tool can drive the spindle head that is a control object in a power-saving mode.

Machine tool to control driving of control objects

A machine tool controlled to restart automatic operation for machining a workpiece from an interrupted point after the machine tool, which has been automatically operated by NC program commands, is caused to interrupt the automatic operation. The NC program commands are classified into a plurality of main groups with respect to the contents of motions for changing the machine state of the machine tool. When the automatic operation of the machine tool restarts after the automatic operation has been interrupted halfway, an order of execution of the NC program commands is determined such that the main groups are arranged in a prescribed order of execution, for automatically generating a machine state restoration command. The automatic operation of the machine tool can restart from the interrupted point without the need for the operator to manually generate or correct a command for restoring the machine tool to its machine.

Method of and apparatus for controlling machine tool for restarting automatic operation

A feed apparatus has a ball screw, a nut, a drive motor, a braking mechanism and a controller and moves a movable body vertically. When recognizing a movement command for rapid traverse relating to the movable body, the controller, when the movable body is to be moved upward, moves the movable body past a target position according to the movement command and then reverses the moving direction thereof and moves the movable body to the target position and stops it there, and, when the movable body is to be moved downward, moves the movable body directly to the target position and stops it there. After moving the movable body to the target position and stopping it there, the controller causes the drive motor to keep the position of the movable body at the stop position and causes the braking mechanism to brake the movement of the movable body.

Feed apparatus

A controller for machine toolhas a program analyzing sectionfor analyzing a machining program and extracting a fixed cycle command, a parameter setting sectionfor, on the basis of the extracted fixed command, determining an accuracy level being graded into a plurality of grades depending on how high machining accuracy is prioritized as compared with machining time in machining and setting parameters corresponding to the determined accuracy level and relating to control of the operation of a feed mechanism, and a drive control sectionfor controlling the feed mechanismon the basis of the extracted fixed cycle command and the set parameters. The parameter setting sectioncalculates an arc-shaped movement trajectory of a tool moving around a virtual corner portion where two straight lines intersect with each other which corresponds to the parameters, and determines the accuracy level based thereon.

Controlling feed operations of a machine tool and work-piece relative to a programmed fixed cycle

A machining status monitoring apparatus is provided on a machine tool, and has a plurality of actual CCD cameras for imaging the tool and workpiece from different view points and generating actual two-dimensional image data thereof, a virtual image generating section having a plurality of virtual CCD cameras corresponding to the actual CCD cameras, in which the tool and workpiece of three-dimensional model are imaged by the virtual CCD cameras from each point and virtual two-dimensional image data thereof are generated, and a display control section for selecting one virtual CCD camera corresponding to the virtual two-dimensional image data in which the distal end of the tool is not hidden by the workpiece among the generated two-dimensional image data, and displaying the actual two-dimensional image data generated by the actual CCD camera corresponding to the selected virtual CCD camera on a display device.
