There is provided a coil component including a coil portion that has at least one layer of planar coil including a coil-wound portion and an insulative layer which covers the periphery of the coil-wound portion, a covering portion that covers the coil portion and is constituted of a mixture including magnetic fillers and resin, and a conductor post that is penetratingly provided inside the covering portion and extends from the coil-wound portion to an upper surface of the covering portion along an axial direction of the planar coil. The conductor post has a post portion which extends from the coil-wound portion in the axial direction of the planar coil, and a lid portion which is exposed from the covering portion and extends from an end portion of the post portion on the upper surface side along a surface direction of the upper surface.

Coil component and method of manufacturing coil component

A coil component includes an element body having a rectangular main surface; a coil provided within the element body, wherein the coil having a lower coil portion and an upper coil portion; terminal electrodes provided at positions corresponding to corners of the main surface; extracting conductors connected within the element body to both end portions of the coil, wherein the extracting conductors extending from the end portions of the coil to terminal electrodes provided on the main surface; and a dummy electrode provided on the main surface at a position different from those of the terminal electrodes, wherein the dummy electrode is conducted to neither of the extracting conductors.

An optical modulator includes: a substrate; a waveguide layer including first and second optical waveguides formed of an electro-optic material film on the substrate to have a ridge shape and to be disposed adjacent to each other; an RF part that applies a modulated signal to the optical waveguides; and a DC part that applies a DC bias to the optical waveguides. The DC part includes: a buffer layer covering at least upper surfaces of the optical waveguides; a first bias electrode opposed to the first optical waveguide through the buffer layer; and a second bias electrode provided adjacent to the first bias electrode. A first DC bias voltage is applied between the first and second bias electrodes. A waveguide layer removal area in which at least part of the waveguide layer is removed is provided at least under an area between the first and second bias electrodes.

Optical modulator

An optical modulator includes: first and second optical waveguides formed of an electro-optic material film on a substrate so as to have a ridge shape and to be disposed adjacent to each other; a buffer layer covering at least the upper surfaces of the first and second optical waveguides; and first and second signal electrodes provided above the buffer layer. The first and second signal electrodes have, respectively, first and second lower layer parts opposite, respectively, to the first and second optical waveguides through the buffer layer; and first and second upper layer parts provided, respectively, above the first and second lower layer parts. Widths of the lower surfaces of the first and second lower layer parts are smaller than widths of the first and second upper layer parts.

Disclosed herein is an electronic component that includes: a base having a main surface; a passive element part formed on the main surface of the base; a magnetic resin layer formed on the main surface of the base so as to embed the passive element part therein, the magnetic resin layer having a surface extending substantially parallel to the main surface of the base; an insulating coat layer formed on a first area of the surface of the magnetic resin layer, the insulating coat layer having higher smoothness than the surface of the magnetic resin layer; and a terminal electrode formed on a second area of the surface of the magnetic resin layer and electrically connected to the passive element part.

Electronic component and manufacturing method thereof

A laminated ceramic electronic component provided with a component main body formed by alternatively laminating multiple dielectric ceramic layers and multiple internal electrode layers, and external electrodes disposed on the end faces where the internal electrode layers of the component main body are exposed, wherein at least a part of the multiple internal electrode layers exposed on the end faces of the component main body are provided with end-face electrode portions that connect the adjacent internal electrode layers, the connecting portions are present between the end-face electrode portions and the dielectric ceramic layers that contact with the end-face electrode portions, and the external electrodes are disposed so that the end-face electrode portions are covered.

Laminated ceramic electronic component

A laminated ceramic electronic component with a cuboid-shaped element main body having a first main face and a second main face elongating along the length direction and the width direction, a first side face and a second side face elongating along the length direction and the height direction, and a first end face and a second end face elongating along the width direction and the height direction; and a pair of internal electrode layers opposite to each other in the height direction inside the element main body with a dielectric layer interposed therebetween in such a manner that they are exposed at the first end face or the second end face, wherein the thickness of the dielectric layer becomes larger from central portion to the first side face and the second side face.

A multilayer electronic component includes an element body having an internal electrode layer and a dielectric layer. These layers are substantially parallel to a plane including a first axis and a second axis and are alternately laminated along a third axis direction. A pair of side surfaces facing each other in the first axis direction of the element body is respectively equipped with an insulating layer. A pair of end surfaces facing each other in the second axis direction of the element body is respectively equipped with an external electrode electrically connected to the internal electrode layer. The insulating layer has a mountain portion formed on a peripheral edge of the side surface and a plane portion of a central portion of the side surface.

Multilayer electronic component

A multilayer electronic component includes an element body having an internal electrode layer and a dielectric layer. These are substantially parallel to a plane including a first axis and a second axis and are alternately laminated along a third axis direction. Side surfaces facing each other in the first axis direction are respectively equipped with an insulating layer. End surfaces facing each other in the second axis direction are respectively equipped with an external electrode. An elastic modulus of the insulating layer is 12 GPa to 140 GPa.

A multilayer electronic component includes an element body having an internal electrode layer and a dielectric layer. These are substantially parallel to a plane including a first axis and a second axis and are alternately laminated along a third axis direction. Side surfaces facing each other in the first axis direction are respectively equipped with an insulating layer. End surfaces facing each other in the second axis direction are respectively equipped with an external electrode. A main component of the insulating layer is constituted by glass containing Si at 25 wt % or more. The external electrode includes glass containing at least Si. The external electrode covers an end portion in the second axial direction of the insulating layer. A diffusing layer is partially present at least at a bonding portion of the insulating layer with the external electrode in the side surface.

A laminate-type ceramic electric component such as laminated ceramic capacitor which has excellent mechanical strength and also has thermal shock resistance at the same time is provided. A laminate-type ceramic electronic component includes an inner layer part, in which dielectric layers including ABO(which represents a perovskite crystal in which A contains at least Ba and B contains at least Ti) as a main component and internal electrode layers are alternately laminated; and a pair of outer layer parts which sandwich the inner layer part, wherein the outer layer parts include a continuous film containing a Ba&#x2014;Si&#x2014;Ti&#x2014;O based crystal phase.

Laminate-type ceramic electronic component

The present invention aims to suppress the cracks and delamination to improve the bending strength of multilayer ceramic electronic component with internal electrode layers wherein the thickness of the internal electrode layer is 0.5 &#x3bc;m or less. The multilayer ceramic electronic component is a laminated body having internal electrode layers and dielectric ceramic layers which are laminated alternately. The internal electrode layers have electrode discontinuity portion. In a part of the electrode discontinuity portion, a dielectric ceramic particle bigger than the thickness of the dielectric ceramic layer is contained when the cross section is observed from the direction perpendicular to the laminating plane of the laminated body. The dielectric ceramic particles have the same crystal structure with the dielectric ceramic particles contained in the dielectric ceramic layers, and contact with at least one internal electrode layers which are opposite to each other with dielectric ceramic layers sandwiched therebetween.
