A method for manufacturing a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet support that can be used to obtain a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet that maintains its gloss and that has excellent handleability and high condition uniformity while preventing the formation of air bubbles in an adhesive layer. A resin is supplied to one side of a substrate, which is passed between a cooling roller A and a rubber roller A. A porous film is stacked on another side of the substrate through a resin, and the substrate is passed between a cooling roller B and a rubber roller B. The cooling rollers A and B have surfaces with a ten-point average roughness (Rz) of 5 to 30 &#x3bc;m and 0 to 20 &#x3bc;m, respectively. The rubber rollers A and B have a rubber hardness (durometer (Type A)) of 60 to 95 and 50 to 80, respectively.

One preferred liquid toner comprises copolymer resin particles and an electrically insulating dispersion medium, the copolymer resin particles containing a copolymer resin composed of at least two different monomer components including a first and a second monomer components and a foaming inhibitor, and the copolymer resin particles being dispersed in the dispersion medium, wherein the copolymer resin and the dispersion medium are related to each other such that (i) a difference &Dgr;(&dgr;p &minus;&dgr;d) between a SP value &dgr;p of a homopolymer composed only of the first monomer component and a SP value &dgr;d of the dispersion medium is not smaller than 1.0, (ii) a difference &Dgr;(&dgr;p &minus;&dgr;d) between a SP value &dgr;p of a homopolymer composed only of the second monomer component and the SP value &dgr;d is not larger than 1.0, and (iii) a difference &Dgr;(d p &minus;&dgr;p ) is at least 0.5, and each of said copolymer resin particles has a configuration in which a core portion insoluble in the dispersion medium is surrounded with an outer skin portion soluble or swellable in the dispersion medium.
