A lead assembly and associated process include a lead and an integrated feature that facilitates extraction of the lead from the associated body passage. The integrated feature in one embodiment is a sheath received between the associated body passage and received over the lead. The sheath has a first portion extending from adjacent the proximal end to adjacent the distal end of the lead, where the first portion has an inner surface facing with the lead outer surface and the first portion having an outer surface facing radially outward from the lead outer surface. A second portion of the sheath extends from adjacent the distal end to adjacent the proximal end of the lead. The second portion has an inner surface received over the outer surface of the first portion, and the second portion further having an outer surface abutting an inner surface of the associated body passage that receives the lead therein. The integrated feature is alternatively a wire, band, or spoke assembly.

An apparatus for selectively amplifying wind speed adjacent a turbine rotor includes a first deflection panel, having a curved front profile for selective placement laterally on a first side of turbine rotor in a working configuration. A second deflection panel has a curved front profile for selective placement laterally on a second side of the turbine rotor, laterally opposite the first side, in a working configuration. The first and second deflection panels are both configured to amplify wind speed adjacent the turbine rotor when in the working configuration, and to have minimal effect upon the wind speed adjacent the turbine rotor when in a stowed configuration. A method of selectively amplifying wind speed adjacent a turbine rotor is also described.

The Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP) device disclosed herein fits at or around the a person's nose, and incorporates at least one bi-resistance air flow cartridge which allows air to enter the nose freely upon inspiration, while it produces a prescribed back pressure against the discharging air from the nose upon expiration. In a preferred embodiment, a pair of detachable bi-resistance air flow cartridges is attached to the underside of a frame, in alignment with two flexible nasal pillows that connect the device to a person's nostrils.

Respiratory apparatus and method for treating sleep apnea

A testing apparatus for exposing an associated specimen(s) to motions along multiple axes is provided. The testing apparatus includes a test chamber and first, second, third, and fourth devices that impose different kinematic motions or forces on the specimen. A drive mechanism is connected to the first, second, third, and fourth devices so that motion from a single axis is conveyed by the first, second, third and fourth devices to deliver the desired kinematic motions and/or forces to the test chamber(s). At least one of the first, second, third, and fourth devices includes an adjustment mechanism to modify at least one of the devices.

An electrical power generating system includes a wind deflecting structure having a contour at a proximal end formed by a plurality of sail segments that in a first position define the contour, a turbine positioned in proximity to a distal end of the wind deflecting structure such that the turbine is driven by wind passing around the wind deflecting structure, and an energy converter coupled to the turbine that converts rotary motion from the turbine into electrical energy, wherein at least one of the plurality of sails is movable between the first position defining a corresponding portion of the contour of the wind deflecting structure and a second position that reduces a wind drag coefficient of the wind deflecting structure.

Electric generating wind turbine system for low and high wind speeds

A testing apparatus is provided for exposing an associated specimen to movement along multiple axes. A test chamber is dimensioned to receive the associated specimen. A first device is operatively connected to the test chamber to impose a first, rotational movement on the associated specimen, a second device is operatively connected to the test chamber to impose a second, rotational movement different than the first movement on the associated specimen, a third device is operatively connected to the test chamber to impose a generally planar movement or linear translation on the associated specimen, and a fourth device is operatively connected to the test chamber to impose a load force on the associated specimen. A drive mechanism is operatively connected to the first, second, third, and fourth devices so that the movements and forces imposed by respective ones of the devices are commonly driven by the drive mechanism.

A wind harnessing system comprises a substantially helical structure including at least a portion of a spiraling groove and at least one energy converter positioned at least partially within the portion of the spiraling groove. In other embodiments, wind grooves formed by adjacent bands which are fixed with respect to one another, carry energy converters which are moveable with respect to these fixed bands.

A wind harnessing system comprises a substantially grooved shell disposed about a rigid frame. The grooved shell can be constructed of lightweight shell panels connected to one another and to the frame. Alternatively, the grooved shell can be constructed of inflatable shell sections.

An electrical energy generating system converts wind power to electrical power with a wind deflecting structure that divides wind impinging on the structure into two separate accelerated flow paths. One or more turbines are positioned in proximity to the wind deflecting structure such that a portion of the vanes of the turbine is placed within one of the accelerated flow paths. An energy converter is coupled to the turbine that converts rotary motion of the turbine into electricity.

A single drive shaft simulator and method is disclosed that allows up to four independent actions to be imposed on a test specimen such as an artificial joint specimen. These motions about mutually orthogonal axes are provided, and a constant compressive force and/or dynamic force may also be applied. The mechanical simulator is simple, accurate, and robust. The simulator assures synchronous movement where amplitude and profiles of the motion can be independently adjusted.

The present invention relates to polyurethane foam spray guns and disposable, attachable nozzles. The spray gun has at least two barrels and metering chambers containing continuous passageways defined by inner bores. Each inner bore can have at least one ramp-shaped slot for controlled metering of a resin. Within each barrel and metering chamber is a plunger. At the front end of the plunger but not the tip is an O-ring that aids in the control of the metering of each resin. At the mid-section of the plunger is at least one O-ring that aids in the prevention of leakage within the spray gun. Both the plunger tip and the discharge opening of each barrel/metering chamber are narrowed/conical. The nozzle contains a one-way valve to prevent the crossover of the resins. The nozzle's tip has different shapes depending on the structure of the foam product desired.

A front mounted attachment for sewer cleaning vehicles consisting of four-bar linkage assemblies and hydraulic cylinders. The tray supporting the discharge hose storage reel has three positions; a driving position, a use position and a maintenance position. The four-bar linkage assemblies include a ground, a crank, a connecting rod and a follower. The tray using the four-bar linkage assemblies and hydraulic cylinders is raised and lowered along an axis vertical to the ground. The tray does not move to and away from the vehicle.
