An impact resistant battery incorporates one or more improvements that are designed to reduce or eliminate the risk of a fire or explosion caused by a projectile impact, electrical short, or otherwise. The battery is also designed to reduce the amount of structural damage caused by a projectile impact. The battery may have a housing that includes a self-sealing ionomer material. The battery may also be filled with materials that suppress flames and/or prevent the internal temperature from reaching an ignition point.

Impact resistant battery

A mold for use in forming form a porous molded product via an injection molding process is provided. The method comprises injecting a material into the mold comprising multiple layers of shaping elements extending through a cavity, each layer of shaping elements including multiple shaping elements; and removing the molded product from the mold, the molded product having a porous structure formed by at least some of the shaping elements of the layers of shaping elements. The porous structure includes a multiplicity of ordered structural members defining the porous structure, the multiplicity of structural members intersecting to form structural member intersections, and a multiplicity of the pores defined by the multiplicity of structural members.

Methods, tools, and products for molded ordered porous structures

A method of forming a molded porous product is provided. The method comprises injecting a material into a mold to form a molded product, and removing the molded product from the mold. The mold comprising multiple layers of shaping elements extending through a cavity, each layer of shaping elements including multiple shaping elements. The molded product produced after removal from the mold has a porous structure formed by at least some of the shaping elements of the layers of shaping elements. The mold used to make the molded porous product may include a relatively large number of shaping elements within a small area.

Various embodiments of a filter are described herein. In one embodiment, a filter includes a first side and a second side both of which have openings therein. A plurality of baffle members are positioned between the first side and the second side. The plurality of baffle members may be provided as separate pieces or as part of a baffle element. The filter may be used to remove grease from cooking exhaust in residential or commercial kitchen environments. In another embodiment, the filter includes a first side which has a plurality of entry openings in it and a plurality of baffle members which define a plurality of exit openings where air exits the filter.

Baffle filter

A baffle is disclosed which comprises a plurality of substantially S-shaped baffle members and a frame configured to hold the baffle members substantially parallel to each other. The baffle is configured to separate one or more entrained substances from an air stream.

High capture efficiency baffle

Particles may be used to filter harmful biological material from an fluid stream such as air. The particles can be arranged into a bed to filter the harmful biological material from the fluid. The particles include a biocidal agent which is used to destroy the harmful biological material.

Filtration media

A separation cartridge is disclosed which comprises a first separation medium, a second separation medium, and a frame. The second separation medium is positioned adjacent to the first separation medium. The frame is configured to hold the first and second separation mediums. The separation cartridge is configured to separate one or more entrained substances from a gas stream in a hood system.

Separation apparatus

Particles may be used to filter oleo material such as grease from a flow of fluid such as a gas. The particles can be arranged into a bed to filter the oleo material from the fluid. The filtrate substance collect on the inorganic particles. The particles are re-usable, in that they can be subjected to filtrate-separation techniques, e.g., solvent extraction, detergent washing, and centrifugal separation, to separate the oleo material from the particles.

Buoyant, sphere-like materials on the order of about 10 to about 300 microns and surrounded, at least in part, by (1) a variable blend of a ferromagnetic and paramagnetic material and (2) an absorbing or adsorbing material are effective vehicles for isolating targeted materials. By virtue of its relatively low density, the composite material is capable of remaining sufficiently suspended in solution for a suitable amount of time. In addition, the blend of ferromagnetic and paramagnetic materials allows for the isolation of a composite material from an environment such as a solution, yet discourages substantial self-attachment of the composite materials in solution, when subject to a magnetic field. Accordingly, multiple embodiments of composite materials having these and other properties are disclosed, as well as methods for making and using the same.

Composite particles

Inorganic, porous particles filter a substance or substances from a flow of fluid such as a gas. The particles can be arranged into a bed to filter a substance (filtrate substance) from a fluid. The filtrate substance can collect on or within the pores of the inorganic particles. Collection of the filtrate substance within the pores of the particles rather than within the interstices of the bed enhances the filtering capacity and does not impede the flow of fluid through the bed of particles. Furthermore, the inorganic particles are re-usable, in that they can be subjected to harsh filtrate-separation techniques, e.g., heat treatment, solvent extraction, detergent washing, and centrifugal separation, yet retain their desired properties.
